Oh, PolitiFact:
Republican primary frontrunner Mitt Romney set off a firestorm on Jan. 9, 2012, when he said, "I like being able to fire people."
Or, at least, when Romney said something along those lines.
Mitt Romney didn't say "something along those lines." He said exactly that.
PolitiFact goes on to provide 352 words of "context," explaining to readers what Romney really meant when he said, "I like to fire people." But the factcheck to this PolitiFact headline:
In context: Does Mitt Romney like firing people?
... is an unquivocal yes. The candidate himself admitted it. On video, no less!
Meanwhile, the "context" PolitiFact wants readers to know is that when Mitt Romney said, verbatim, "I like to fire people who provide services to me," he really meant he likes to fire corporations, like insurance companies, "cellphone carriers or cable TV companies." Because "corporations are people," right?
