Welcome to the New Year; and the first of hopefully many fun-filled Friday Block Parties this year.
For those noobs to this craziness---we are here to tell a little story; and then enjoy the hilarity and stories and music that ensue. Nothing has to be related to anything----by the 3rd comment we are often onto to some wild music
Tonite, I have a (very) short story on real estate stuff......
Follow me over the do-hickey thing-a-ma-jig....
As many of you may know I'm trying to sell my house---it is a short sale; meaning I owe more than I'll get, but I will be relieved of the balance.
So, you select an agent: Unless you know some one, it is a shot in the dark----and I missed!!
I pick a lady who brings a 10' tape measure to measure rooms that are 18 and 2O foot size.....
Also can't write a letter to other agents without a number of misspellings--not typos; misspellings!
Also, more often than not--isn't in her office when I call; have to wait for call backs.
Likes to "wait a day or so" before contacting other agents who have shown the house. Why? You'd think she'd want quick feedback to assist in a sale...for a 6% commision!!
And, of course---dumb me(early on) used her suggestion for the real estate lawyer.
Big mistake!
He has spoken out of both sides of his mouth; has waffled on some tax info; and today learned that he didn't know a key fact about the town's tax deferral system (for seniors).
Lesson for all: they're all frauds.....be happy if you get a good one. They like to cover their ass more often than not.
Proper song for these folks
The other part of selling your house--is you are possibly downsizing; an dneed to get rid of a lot of stuff. That's me!!! Many years of being a rat-pack.
Craig's List is one way to advertise to sell some of your odds & ends. amazing how many people want to buy your junk---if the price is right
Also amazing is how many are willing to send you big checks... Of course, these people are sooooo nice---even willing to send you extra---just mail back the rest by Western Union check
Always lots of fun with C/L.
Tag sales are always fun----challenge is NOT to laugh at someone who asks for a discount on a 1o cent item!!!!!
So-----tell us about your trials & tribulations over the years with houses, etc....
Or, tell us what you doing here on a Friday night, instead of being out getting drunk; or getting.......ah, well we'll forget that....
(BTW---bought 3 houses in my life-----the only three I ever looked at. Liked each from day one.)
