The weekend before last, many wonderful Kossacks helped Larime Taylor (aka The Gimp) by investing funds so he could continue writing his serial fiction episodes. In order to give folks an example of what their investments would support, he offered the first episode (Hellwatch -The Pilot) as a free download. Larime and I were both ecstatic over the tremendous outcome of that pledge drive.
Now comes Phase Two. This time it's your words we're looking for. More specifically, the initial episode would greatly benefit from reviews from those of you who've read it. There were many encouraging remarks and comments full of praise shared during that weekend. In order for the book (and ultimately the series) to gain visibility, we need to increase the number of reviews.
Larime has the book listed on Amazon and Goodreads. You will have to register to leave your review, but it's quick & easy. So, please, take the time to add the praise you've already shared here to these sites and give Larime the boost needed to heighten interest for new readers.
Larime was also interviewed back in November for Wired and speaks to how Ester and Sammy, the main characters, were developed.
Once I decided that I was going to write a disabled lead character, I wanted to go all the way with it.
That meant the character would have my disability, though her condition isn’t quite as bad as mine, and I wanted the character to be involved in the action so to speak just like any other character. One of the reasons I made her condition a little less severe was to help facilitate that, to give her a bit more independence and mobility than I have, but not very much.
In thinking about the kinds of things that this character could be involved in, I went back to my roots in pagan and ceremonial magic and my love of monsters and demons and decided that she could be a demon/monster hunter in the vein of John Constantine from Hellblazer. I knew that this meant that she would need some kind of an assistant or sidekick to do the more physical things, but I had the beginnings of a story and a character that I really liked. So basically that’s how Ester Vasquez was born.
It would also be immensely helpful to share this diary (or the links to the review sites) with your friends & family with a recommendation that they read the book and add their reviews. Let's build a following to ensure that the series gets off to a strong start and that future episodes will be released on a regular basis.
Thanks for your continued enthusiastic support!
