This is an invitation to all of those in the Nashville area. No, not to rumble with the SF DKos group, though we can discuss that at a meet-up if you’d like, but to form a group of DKos members in the Nashville area to rival the SF group. More below the definitely SF like squiggle.
Why does San Francisco always get to be the cool place while Nashville is relegated to the news of the weird? I say it’s time to change that and what better way than to start a group here on DKos for the Nashville KosKats.
Sure there are some major differences between SF and Nashville. SF has 7.15 million people and a land area of 46.9 square miles.
Nashville has 1.6 million people and a land area of 527 square miles. To be fair though, our people weigh more and take up more space.
According to Wikipedia, “after the war, the confluence of returning servicemen, massive immigration, liberalizing attitudes, and other factors (Vietnam) led to the Summer of Love and the gay rights movement, cementing San Francisco as a center of liberal activism in the US.”
In the meantime “The Battle of Nashville (December 15-16, 1864) was a significant Union victory and perhaps the most decisive tactical victory gained by either side in the war” And we still reenact the civil war battles to this day.
SF has sourdough bread and Aaron Huey.
Nashville has corn bread and Molly Secours.
Hippies flocked to Haight-Ashbury in the ‘60’s.
Hillbillies and Christians still flock to Music city.
Public nudity is legal in SF. It’s not encouraged in Nashville but citizens here dress so casually they need to be reminded by signs to wear shirts and shoes into businesses.
They have their OWS and we still have ours - 50 tents camped on the plaza, been there since day one.
50 tents are more impressive than one. One DKos member in Nashville is impressive but why not add more? As one member here in Nashville I was able to drive to another member’s house and respond to a diary posted here asking for help. I didn’t do it alone though. Many reached out to help the diarist and to help me get out there for an emergency delivery.
Let’s join our voices together at least for some coffee or beer. KosKats wants you!
