What's new around R&BLers is that we are proud to announce that we will host a week long R&BLers 1 year birthday party celebration beginning TUE, Feb. 7th and ending on the actual birthday of MON Feb. 13th. During this week long festival of reading, books, authors, and all things biblio, all Followers, Contributors, Editors and Admins are invited to write posts on the topic of books and birthdays.
Celebrate anniversaries of authors' births (dead and living), toot the horn for a well loved book you received (or gave to someone else!) on one of your own birthdays, look back on your reading self and what's happened to that aspect of your life in the year R&BLers has been part of it, talk about your own reading and writing accomplishments that you've achieved in the last 12 months, write a diary wishing a happy R&BLer birthday to one of your favorite Group authors or a paean to one of your favorite Group series.
In sum, any of the currently 814 official R&BLers who wish to write anything pertinent to happy birthday to our Group are likely to find themselves "standing" in our queue and waiting their turn to be published. I hope that our 1-year candle will light flames of inspiration among Followers who have lurked at R&BLers for a year and choose this week to out themselves by revealing their public voice.
Feel free to illustrate your diaries with birthday cakes, family photos of birthdays, and/or shots of reading kin caught in the act; literate pet pics are also welcome (so are their stories of how they learned to read). Let the crumbs fall where they may, the ice cream melt, and the champagne flow as we pull out all the stops to have a very good time expressing our wishes for another year of as much fun and good reading as we've enjoyed since the inception of R&Blers February 13, 2011.
Please turn the page.
Wait! I'm not done. More "new" to tell you about.
Announcements
R&BLers is delighted to announce the nomination of two additional Admins. They are quarkstomper, Editor of the very popular series, Sci/Fi Fantasy Book Club and Susan from 29, Editor of the highly popular series, Monday Murder Mystery.
With the rapid growth in membership to the Group, we feel the need to increase the number of folks who do the grunt work behind the scenes that keeps R&BLers vibrant, fresh, and responsive to the demands of our Followers. So, I hope they'll don the mantle and pick up the orb and scepter and begin adding their imprimatur to this blog.
Susan from 29 may not have announced it officially yet, but she has a Grand Project in mind for indexing our publications and may choose to undertake it as part of her administrative role. If you're interested in helping make navigation of this huge group easier, please contact our newest Admin by personal message. Whatever form her project takes, I know it will be valuable. Who knows, an R&BLersWiki may be the result with everyone taking part!
Welcome aboard in your new role, quarkstomper and Susan from 29!
R&BLers will be delighted to learn -- especially our night owls and West Coasters -- that My Favorite Books/Authors is returning to the weekly schedule under the editing auspices of edrie and MichiganChet who will be your co-hosts. Look for this resurrected old-time favorite on MON nights at 11PM (ET). They're an enthusiastic pair who will bring a new flair to one of our earliest regular series. I can hardly wait! Tentative opening night is Feb. 6th. So, don't miss it!
Further, congratulations to Chitown Kev on launching his new series, Windy City Bookworm, our new general review of books, that debuted last Saturday and will appear every 4th SAT at 11AM (ET). This is a much needed addition to the weekly magazine schedule, and I’m glad to say we now have a feature devoted to reviewing mostly contemporary fiction.
And a big welcome back shout-out to ArkDem14 who’s new series, The Magic Theater, can be found every Sunday at 3PM (ET), no longer just intermittently. So, if you’re a fan of books – and manga – with a slight surreal twist, you won’t want to miss presenting your ticket at R&BLers’ newest theater of the mind.
To celebrate all this newness, I say, "More cake!"
