A ridiculous amount of resources here are spent on the Republican primary.
Do you really think that anything written on this site will have any impact on that primary? I submit that it won't. Nobody who plans to vote for Romney or Gingrich or any of the other clowns reads here and if by chance they did, they certainly are not influenced by a bunch of progressives.
What's up with this?
So why does this site spend so much time and so much front page real estate on the Republican primary? Is it too hard to resist the low hanging fruit? Is it a lot easier to write front page post after front page post, and diary after diary on the easy pickings? Is the Democratic leadership or the campaign encouraging it?
There are huge stories every day, huge issues to deal with that could use a lot more sunlight and a lot more honest analysis. There are things going on that require some complex writing and nuance. There are issues that really need a lot more public debate and exposure. This site used to be a place where you could come to find such material. But look at the front page every day. It's oppo research extravaganza. For whom?
Did Mitt pick his nose today? Did Newt walk into a campaign event with toilet paper on his shoe?
I'm not one for writing meta diaries. But this is as boring as hell and at an extraordinary time in history. These are not normal times. There are so many things going on that it is hard to keep up with all the doings and the news. But you'd never know it by reading DailyKos.
What am I missing here? Enlighten me.
