For those of you hyperventilating over the current state of the polls, please study the Electoral Vote map above and consider the following:
The map above represents the state of the race that nearly 100% of professionals consider to be set in stone.
Please note that Obama can pretty much bank on 253 EVs currently. Only the states in YELLOW remain open to either candidate (in nearly all scenarios).
Now consider - all Obama needs to reach 270 is:
1. To win OHIO. Game over.
2. To win FLORIDA. Game over.
3. To win VIRGINIA and NEW HAMPSHIRE. Game over.
4. To win COLORADO, NEVADA, and NEW HAMPSHIRE. Game over.
6. To win VIRGINIA and IOWA. Game over.
In short - there are so many more ways for Obama to win 17 EVs out of the remaining battlegrounds than for Romney to do so, it is alost comical. Romney would have to nearly sweep ALL the remaining battlegrounds to win the election.
So PLEASE folks - concentrate on GOTV efforts - especially in those ststaes whose EVs would put Obama over the top the most easily (OHIO and FLORIDA) - and stop fretting over this poll or that poll within a single state.
Your mental health may depend on it! :D :D
UPDATE: Sorry - I was using the 2008 KOS Interactive Map with the EVs for the previous election. My bad!!!!
Obama needs OHIO and NEW HAMPSHIRE to reach 269 (shudder!!!!!) - but OHIO plus any OTHER state would be enough.
Sorry about that! (Hey Markos - TIME TO UPDATE THE Electoral Vote Tracker Map with current data!!!!!!!) :D
