Of all the years not to attend the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Dinner, that's what I said to myself this week now that I have left the city that never sleeps. Besides being able to give directly to community outreach programs in the area, this event always served up the best in political jabbary outside the White Correspondents Dinner, especially in election years.
I mean, even McCain and Obama in 2008 had quite a time. For those we don't remember, here is McCain doing his best stand-up routine ever.

Yes, that is even Hillary Clinton giggling like a school girl, it was that funny. But at 5:00 in that roast, McCain did something Romney could never do, he showed his humanity.
But this, this was classic.
That was one of the funniest nights ever in politics, which begs the question.
