This is definately not recommended for everyone because you have to smile and grit your teeth and listen without getting mad..I am used to dealing with Republicans, democrats, no party affiliation on a non partisan basis daily helping veterans so it is maddening but if it wins just one vote..it works. When you get a wrong number.....
who are listed on the Phone bank tool who have acquired the phone number listed and are republicans. This is interesting stuff. After I have identified who I am and why I am calling is when I find out they are not so and so and they proceed to tell me they are voting Romney and start with talking points.
This little video is just a motivator when I run into these Deep Republican waters.
I don't recommend this to everyone but it has sure been nice to listen to them say things like " Why are you voting for Obama" and allow me to give our talking points. On a few occasions it has opened their minds.
I had two veterans I had the opportunity to explain the caregiver act to. I thanked them for their service and proceeded with facts about cuts to the VA under Gov. Romney and then asked them to please not take my word for it as I am sure they were skeptical and gave them links to back up the info. I then told them that bullets did not recognize dems or republicans but care for our wounded warriors should always be non partisan and a priority. The VA and it's care for our nation's heros should always steer clearly to the candidate with a record of doing this. I have not had one hang up on me as they wanted to listen about the cuts and how the 47 percent applied directly to their lives.
One gentlemen got pretty angry at the guy he was gonna vote for and said he was changing his vote and the other thanked me for helping vets even if I was for Obama and I said, "But don't you see"...We Obama supporters including and especially the Obama team like Michelle and Jill Biden are actively doing that. Is Ann Romney supporting our veterans in the way the first lady is and I usually say, These are questions I ask veterans when deciding on casting that most important vote. How will this election affect me as a veteran, a wounded veteran or my benefits. I have run across this three times today and once last week.
A lady, today, again voting republican answered the phone because the actual person on the register has since deceased asked me why I would vote for a Muslim? I said, " I do not believe the president is anything but what he says he is and that is a Christian." Just like we don't know if Romney is a Mormon, aethist or christian. We do not know except what he professes . I then went on to say. Look.... a person's faith is not supposed to be a test for presidency, but family values and truth which is a moral imperative is something we should look at. Muslim? I don't believe it but I am voting for a president not a religion. Only God, knows a person's heart and that makes us less of what we professand if we start claiming to as Bush said, " Look into their souls"..we are wrong, as we are mere moral and cannot do that. She said , "Do you pray". I said yes I do and my Daddy is a preacher, my grandaddy was a preacher and all my uncles. I know what faith looks like and I still say this is about politics and not religion. If you confuse the two you go against the bible. Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar and render to God, God. I told her to have a nice day and hung up.
I have to remember to be polite and understanding on that phone as I am representing the President and his campaign. I have found it sure beats the heck out of just hanging up. It is to me my own little mini commerical and we talk weather and family and usually is very positive interaction..so far anyway. They are usually shocked how
WE are Americans supporting somone I emhasize is an American who needs more time to get this country completely on the economic right track. Works for me. I hope it works for the President.
This is not for the faint of heart and requires much lip biting and fact gathering to reference but it beats hanging up when you know you got one of the believers of Romney on the line. This may be the only thing between the truth and Fox news this voter may get. They tend to turn off the ads. I found that out.
