An excellent poll out of North Dakota today. They've been coming fast and furious lately and this one shows Heidi Heitkamp up by one in the race for the Senate seat being vacated by Kent Conrad. This is one of the seats the Republicans were sure they could win and that would help them take control of the Senate. They nominated multi-millionaire Rick Berg who hasn't yet completed his first term in the House of Representatives. Way too many of them have assumed he'd simply step up.
Not so fast, fellas. Heitkamp's still got something to say about that.
Heidi has worked without cease since the day she won the nomination back in April. She deserves this win and she will represent the state with honesty and heart. She won't always make us happy here at Daily Kos, but she'll always be open to differing points of view and she'll always be looking out for the people of her State -- all of them. She cares about women, she enjoys the strong support of North Dakota's Native American population and she never stops listening.
The poll details are reported in The Hill: http://thehill.com/...
Heitkamp 49% Berg 48%. Eight hundred and seven North Dakotans polled, landlines and cell phones, 27% Dems, 41% Republicans (very close to the 2008 exit poll breakdown by party). Margin of error, 3.4%.
