We are all waiting for MattTx number for today. But, here are a few key numbers that I have already received.
There are 6.6 millions registered voters in NC. 1.5 millions of them are African Americans.
In 2008, 700,000 African Americans total voted.
In 2010 sweep of the Republicans, only 500,000 African American voted. Richard Burr(R) beat Elaine Marshall (D) by 300,000 votes in the senate race. In Total, there were more voters in 2010 Senate Elections than in 2008 Elections. So, the Republicans brought everyone.
As of today, 12 days before the elections, 299,000 African Americans have already voted. That is about 70,000 more than at the same time in 2008.
Yes, 70,000 more African Americans have already voted than in 2008 at the same time.
In the next two Sundays, there will be Souls to the Polls events in AA churches all over the state. Churches have buses waiting to carry people to the polls.
African Americans in NC vote over 90% for Democratic candidates.
We cannot predict at this point, but we have to feel extremely positive about what's happening in NC.
I volunteer for OFA in Wake County and this week end, we will be doing doors and phone. If you can help, please join us. NC is winning this folks. We believe we can get over ONE millions AA to vote, that would be 300k more than in 2008.
