Ed Tritschler, a 75-year-old business owner and former Marine from Oakwood, was holding a plastic bag full of canned goods as he waited for the event to start.
FEMA and other agencies will “throw money at the problem right away,” Tritschler said. ”When they see Obama riding in on his white steed, or in his case the white 747 … people might” be swayed, he said.
"Throw money" is conventional Conservatese for wasteful government spending. That is what one of Romney's devoted supporters said today at a Romney campaign "victory rally" in Ohio, that they quickly reimagined into a Potemkin storm relief event,
according to a Washington Post blog, by the simple expedients of broadcasting an appeal for canned and dry goods to attendees and omitting Governor Romney's customary stump speech.
Thus the candidate makes a great and utterly false show of compassion for the suffering of the victims while his supporters in the crowd say what they are all really thinking: FEMA relief is a waste of government money that goes to undeserving "takers" as partisan graft. Giving bus rides financed by campaign contributions to plastic bags "full of canned goods" is a much better, more efficient idea in Mr. Tritschler's bubble.
That's really how they think. Thanks for the reminder, Mr. Tritschler.
