Franklin Graham apparently forgot what happened when his dad, Billy Graham, got burned by his support of Richard Nixon. Under his leadership, the Graham ministry isn't even trying to hide the fact it's carrying water for Mitt Romney. Earlier this month, it took out full-page ads in several major newspapers urging Christians to vote "Biblical values." Now, today, Graham fils wrote an op-ed for Charisma magazine saying in no uncertain terms that if we vote the wrong way next week, the proverbial lightning bolt could be on the way.
This is a crucial hour for our nation. Above all, this is a time for deep, intercessory prayer on behalf of our great country, which is in grave danger unless we repent of our sins and turn back to the God of our fathers. The Bible says, “First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way” (1 Tim. 2:1–2).
When America’s leaders actively promote and legislate immorality, restrict the religious freedoms that our country was founded on, and are openly hostile to men and women of faith, then I believe we are ripe for God’s judgment.
So pray and then vote on Nov. 6, asking God for His mercy and grace upon our land. There’s still time to turn from our wicked ways so that He might spare us from His wrath against sin.
This isn't just a dog whistle, folks. This is a dog whistle being blown into a megaphone. And it's only the latest instance of this from Graham
fils. You'll recall that earlier in the cycle, he has
flirted with birtherism,
questioned whether Obama is really a Christian and
questioned whether Christians who support Obama are really Christians at all.
I say again what I said in February--as long as Franklin Graham is on this wingnut kick, he can shove it.
