A lot has been justly written about how well-organized the Obama campaign has been, and how lacking in field offices and such the Romney campaign is by comparison.
Well, guess what: this weekend the mormons will be out in force canvassing, at least in Nevada. A childhood friend of mine who lives near San Diego posted a request on Facebook for someone to room with in Las Vegas, and she indicated that 30,000 people had been direct-contacted last weekend.
It would not surprise me in the slightest to learn that similar under-the-radar efforts have been and will be made in Colorado and any other states that are close enough to mormon-dense (or dense mormon, as you please) areas. There are enough mormons in major metro areas of the U.S. — swing states in particular — who can certainly be counted on to boost the Mittster's ground game. Do not underestimate the energy of religiously political fanatics!
Please take this seriously. Many mormons have willingly swallowed and mindlessly believe all the lies about the President dished up by Glenn Beck (and Glenn's "gentile" cohorts — Limbaugh, Coulter, and all the gang at Fox News)… and many mormons like nothing better than to envision themselves as important fighters against evil and the anti-Christ in The End Times. (Srsly.) So they will continue to put in a big effort — this weekend especially — to make sure a mormon is in the White House come January 2013.
Let's not let them gain any kind of upper hand in the swing states. God knows how important it is for the vast majority of Americans — even for the mormons working so industriously against their own interests! — to give President Obama four more years and definitively end Mitt's religious-based and money-backed delusions of grandeur.
