Jon Ronson is a writer and documentary filmmaker. His nonfiction books "Them: Adventures with Extremists" and "The Men Who Stare at Goats" were international bestsellers; the latter was adapted into a major motion picture in 2009 starring George Clooney. Ronson is also the author of "Out of the Ordinary: True Tales of Everyday Craziness, "What I Do: More True Tales of Everyday Craziness, The Psychopath Test: A Journey Through the Madness Industry and Lost at Sea: The Jon Ronson Mysteries. He has made several documentary films for the U.K.'s Channel 4, including the five-part series "The Secret Rulers of the World" and the award-winning "Tottenham Ayatollah," and produces and presents the BBC Radio 4 program "Jon Ronson On." He also writes regularly for British publications such as The Guardian, and is a regular contributor to Public Radio International's "This American Life."
Jon Ronson seeks out weirdness. In his latest and wildest outing, the author of The Psychopath Test and Men Who Stare at Goats flies into the desert of the Great Southwest to interview self-professed alien abductees and travels to Detroit to pick the virulent brains of Insane Clown Posse rowdies Violent J and Shaggy. In Lost at Sea, he also pits himself against a bot version of himself and probes the hidden agendas and tactics of credit card companies and the shadowy figures behind them. Even more ominous are his probes into the machinations of entities intent on controlling the internet and his eerie investigation into a planned school massacre at, of all places, North Pole, Alaska. An unputtable, full immersion into the world's strangest species.
