Here are the latest figures out of Iowa.
Here are the latest numbers for absentee ballot requests:
Dems 164,550 (50.75%)
Reps 89,858 (27.72%)
Inds 69,533 (21.45%)
Oth 269 (negligible)
TOTAL 324,210
Here are the new ballot requests since the last report:
Dems +4,265
Reps +7,313
Inds +3,522
For the two previous reports, Republican absentee ballot requests actually outnumbered Democratic ones by about two to one, so this report represents a slight slowdown in Republican ballot requests.
Here are the latest numbers for total ballots returned:
Dems 76,416 (60.12%)
Reps 27,511 (21.64%)
Inds 23,092 (18.17%)
Oth 89 (negligible)
TOTAL 127,108
Here are the returned ballots since the last report:
Dems +7,751
Reps +5,502
Inds +3,170
So as we can see here, Republicans saw an uptick in ballots returned since the last report and Democrats saw a decrease - in the last report Democratic ballots cast outnumbered Republican ones by about three to one. This could be because of the debate, or it could be statistical flutter. But Democrats casting ballots still outnumbered Republicans by a significant margin since the last report.
The next report will be very interesting to see.
