No one can accuse our fearless leader kos here of not supporting the President. He has herded we diverse cats along this election cycle by putting a stop to the Obama Rox/Obama Sux wars and led the way in a massive push back and expose' of Romney's campaign fail .
Today, as usual, he was like an umpire, calling them like he sees them and pitching the hardballs that needed to be pitched, while reassuring the troops that we are still on line to win:
Let's get this straight—every poll this week that was in the field last Thursday and Friday will not look good for us. There's no doubt that President Barack Obama took a serious hit from his crappy debate performance. Not only did he let Mitt Romney walk all over him verbally and rhetorically, hyper-motivating the conservative base, not only did he demoralize base Democrats itching for a fighter, but he gave the media a reason to quit the "Romney is a loser" talk.
Fact is, Obama doesn't like to play the partisan fighter role. He wants to be the conciliator who brings people together to blah blah blah. That's why he let the health care debate drag on 14 months instead of genuinely ramming it down the GOP's throat. That's why he waited until this year to act on Don't Ask, Don't Tell and the DREAM kids. Every time you think he has learned that Republicans want to utterly destroy him, he comes back with his rhetorical embrace of the enemy, telling everyone that we should all come together because we're not really all that different! You see, Republicans want to destroy Social Security, and Democrats want to ... destroy it a little less? God, I hope not. But that's the Obama people got last week.
And as we've seen time and time again, every time Obama shies away from standing firm he gets burned, and he got burned badly.
The irony, of course, is that Romney scored his biggest points by moving to Obama's left. The Etch-a-Sketch was in action, as Romney transformed himself from a "severe conservative" to "Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney."
Austerity Talk
So come on Mr. President, how about moving left yourself? There are many seniors who are likely voters, who are worried about what your plans are for Social Security. Far more unemployed and underemployed who are hungry for a vision forward with jobs....
Green Future
And look, the Green Party is on the ballot in over 40 states, has earned the right for federal campaign dollars, and there are surely appeals to some undecideds who might be convinced to vote for you, some number of undecideds that want clear assurances and actions that show you will say, bring our troops home from Afghanistan stat, call for more stimulus, etc?
Climate Change
There are also those who want to be reassured that the man at the helm is very clear about the climate change disasters we are facing and has a vision and a plan.
FORWARD
Many love you. Many want you to win, and win big.
Please don't let Romney steal this election by his tacking left, while you tack right.... we know he's lying, but what about the rest of the electorate?
kos:
People want to vote for Obama, they want him to succeed, which is more than can be said about Romney. But he can't let them down again. Another bad debate performance, and the fundamentals may not hold.
