White Habit
One pill makes you Limbaugh
And one pill makes you crawl
And the ones the RINOs give you
Don't do anything at all
Go ask Rushbo, when he's bouncing off the wall
When the pundits and the players
Tell the world it's all your fault,
But you've cheated them for millions
All tucked safely in your vault,
There seems no reason, no reason now to halt.
And if you go bashing liberals
And the audience you must appall
Tell 'em only true believers
Know the way to God's great hall!
You're just the latest, the latest jock to fall.* |
A Limbaugh Holiday Story
Rush Limbaugh: Mother Teresa of talk radio?
Rush Limbaugh, champion of the poor.
Sounds incongruent, yes? Like "Rush Limbaugh for prescription drug enforcement" or "Rush Limbaugh, sincere advocate of bi-partisan cooperation".
But it's true. Near-billionaire Rush Limbaugh advocated for the "poor and suffering" on his talk show during the holiday week.
Limbaugh expressed a special, heart-felt concern about "48 million Americans who are living on food stamps".
Oh, you don't suppose he betrayed the usual cynicism when he sneered, "what does a six-pack of beer cost that you can buy with food stamps?" ???
But it is the season of good will and charity, dear reader! He went on and on and on about the plight of the poor! Let us have faith — surely we must have been wrong about Limbaugh all along?
Here's Rush championing America's poor in an utterly sincere, non-political segment of his show (just incidentally called "A Dire Thanksgiving in Obamaville"):
RUSH: Maybe we should've canceled Thanksgiving. Not very many Americans know what it is anyway, and look at all the poor, suffering, they can't participate in it. In America in 2010, Thanksgiving is splitting up families. I have it here. I saw that on TV, and I have it here in this AP story. Families are being divided by Thanksgiving. What kind of holiday is that? What kind of holiday is it that divides American families? What kind of holiday is it, what kind of cruel tradition from the founding of this country is it? What kind of holiday is it that makes children and mothers have to separate from their fathers? Of course, in certain circles that's not a bad thing if you're a feminazi. Maybe we should've just canceled Thanksgiving so that the poor don't have to suffer by seeing what other people are doing and they can't do.
—Rush Limbaugh: A Dire Thanksgiving in Obamaville, November 21, 2012
Nothing inherently political about his words there, right? Well, sure — there's that nasty little "feminazi" reference. But that's just trademark Rush. His "schtick". In this
season of giving, shouldn't we give the
benefit of the doubt?
Oh, wait — Limbaugh concluded his sermon for the poor with:
"But, see, this is a great example of an issue that the libs will use to cast conservatives as heartless and mean. 'Look at all these millions of Americans on food stamps. It's 'cause the Republicans don't care. The Republicans have no heart. They've sat around in Congress —' "
Lesson learned. With Limbaugh, doesn't matter if the topic is poverty, sex, privilege, power... it is always about politics. And there is always someone to blame for something.
When logic and proportion have fallen sloppy dead,
And Limbaugh's oxycontin goes rushing to his head
And everything is backwards and you feel you've been misled,
Remember what the shock jock said —
Fool your head! Fool your head!*
