I want a President who will show up.
I want a President who will push, shove and kick the federal bureaucracy into action when the oceans do in fact rise and flood our leading cities.
I want a President who gathers as much information as possible before announcing terrorist activity instead of relying on a color coded graphic.
I want a President who instinctively reaches out to hold and reassure those who are frightened and distressed.
I want a President willing to give the benefit of the doubt to a challenger, once. And then tear him a new one the next time he tries to pass off a lie as the truth.
I want a President who is smarter than I am. Who thinks, reads an occasional book and explains complex issues in multi-syllabic words that he assumes Americans can understand.
I want a President ready to confront some of the hard issues, again. Climate, privacy, marriage rights, campaign finance reform, immigration, healthcare.
I want a President who trusts me enough to figure that I was listening to what he said the last time and will know if he is not saying the same thing this time.
I want a President who will bring some sparkle to the White House and some pride in our First Family. And a dog who will never be asked to ride on the roof.
I want a President who is welcomed overseas by our allies and our foes, one out of friendship and the other out of respect.
I want a President who will give me back that lump in my throat that I felt as a child when I pledged allegiance to a flag and to the nation for which it stood.
I want a President whose name is Barack Hussein Obama.
What do you want?
