I just knew I wasn't wrong in my earlier diary predicting that the Saturday early vote would be huge for us. The earlier posted numbers from Saturday (posted on the Miami Herald political blog) were not final, they were only partial. Now they have been updated and we're way ahead folks!
Here are the early vote totals:
Dems 1,109,262 (46%)
Reps 862,277 (35.75%)
Inds 440,133 (18.25%)
TOTAL 2,411,672
Here are the additions since the last report:
Dems 181,057
Reps 121,603
Inds 82,383
385,043 people early voted on Saturday and that doesn't include the absentee/mail-in ballots. The Miami Herald says this is a one-day statewide record for early voting. We freaking rock! And all the numbers I'm giving you are for Saturday; they don't include any of the numbers from Sunday (yesterday).
Here are the absentee/mail-in totals:
Dems 806,310
Reps 885,675
Inds 365,736
TOTAL 2,057,721
Here are the additions since the last report:
Dems +68,690
Reps +64,281
Inds +37,000
We f*cking kicked ass in the absentee department! This is usually an area that Republicans dominate. Saturday may have just saved our chances of winning Florida!
Here is the total early/absentee combined vote count:
Dems 1,915,572 (42.86%)
Reps 1,747,952 (39.11%)
Inds 805,869 (18.03%)
TOTAL 4,469,393
The incredible thing is that there are almost the same amount of early and absentee ballots cast as there were four years ago (4.6 million). We rock!
Eight years ago, in 2004, we trailed by about 70,000 ballots going into election day. In 2008, we led by about 250,000 ballots going into election day. Here we lead by 167,620 ballots and that doesn't even include Sunday's totals and the absentee ballots that are still being dropped off or mailed in. Personally, I feel these numbers look a lot more like 2008 than 2004, don't you? Granted, we don't really know what's going on with the independents, but if we can hold down Romney's advantage among them to low single digits, we will win Florida.
These numbers are awesome!
