Why America needs an Obama victory on November 6
With less than 24 hours to go in the biggest election of our lifetime, America has reached the crossroad right now. Voters must decide whether to take America in one of two separate paths. America is counting on its voters to make the right choice in order to keep her viable and sustainable in this world.
As you look at the entrance to the first path on the right, you see fresh roses, green grass and a jovial Mitt Romney handing out lei flower necklaces as the voters enter.
At the entrance to the other path, which has no flowers, freshly laid grass seed and lots of dust; you have a stern looking Barack Obama handing out shovels and picks as the voters who chose it, enter that pathway.
To an outsider in the world, looking at our election, that was been asked to make a prediction, most would probably pick the winner to be Romney. He is for all standing at the rosy and more aesthetic path, if that is all they went by to make their decision. It is clear to us as US Citizens, that America cannot afford to be taken down the pretty and disingenuous path right now.
Personally, I have never seen a presidential candidate flop more on issues than Mitt Romney. This was even before seeing him debate Ted Kennedy decades ago, where Kennedy called him out for switching on the issues during this year's Democratic National Convention. Today, to see which way Romney is going to answer a question during a political event, you just have to focus on who his audience is at the present time, and most likely, you will guess his answer.
America needs a president with a backbone and that does not look at polls when making a decision. In his four years as president, Obama has taken such bold decisions, that even Bill Clinton himself, said that he could not have done a better job, when endorsing him during the DNC.
So why does America need an Obama victory on November 6? Lets just say living in the state of Michigan, and working in the auto industry, I saw first-hand how Obama saved General Motors and Chrysler. All of this while Mitt Romney was busy writing his now famous op-ed saying to let Detroit go bankrupt.
Obama ended the war in Iraq, when Romney has argued that we still need a presence there. Nominating two female Supreme Court Justices and not having to use "binders full of women" to find them, has to be quite an accomplishment. Obama has also taken a bold stance and repealed the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy. Personally, what someone does in the privacy of their own bedroom is the last thing they to be worried about when they are risking their lives to protect ours. Healthcare, the forgotten policy was finally addressed by Obama.
Ever since I can remember in my lifetime, I have not seen a single year, where healthcare costs have gone down. President Obama had the guts to take a stance and pass his health care reform legislation that was as critical in our lifetimes as Franklin Delano Roosevelt's "New Deal".
Working in finance in the healthcare industry for a public hospital I saw for years us ending up in the red. Why is that? Because you do not need a PHD to know that when someone does not have health insurance and they get sick, the place they are going to go to get treatment, is the emergency room. In emergency rooms the costs are quadrupled and nobody can be denied treatment by Federal Law, even if they don't have current health insurance.
What Republicans seem to forget, is that Romney is a pioneer when it comes to comprehensive health care reform (just look at the current Massachusetts law).
Lastly, Obama has the cojones to take out the bad guys; just ask some of Bin Laden's wives for their opinion on Barack. This makes it clear that America's most urgent choice for tomorrow, is to re-elect Barack Obama.
As an independent voter who has tried to keep an open mind, I will cast my vote for Barack Obama in a few hours.
Personally, I did not vote for Barack Obama back in 2008 because I thought he was not a pragmatist and had no backbone. Let just say he proved me wrong and I the crow that I've been eating ever since, does not taste as bad as it did the first year.
If it were not for the miracle on October 3rd that Mitt Romney received from President Obama when he underestimated him before that first debate; the GOP would have been offering prizes to sellout Romney's venue for tomorrow where he will follow the election results. It should be absolutely embarrassing to Romney and the GOP that days before the election takes place, the only crutch that they have to stand a chance is the result from the first debate. Love Romney or hate him; it still does give him a shot in tomorrow's election.
I'll take the road less travelled and walk with Obama for the next four years.
