For part one, please go here. This details what happened from 5:30 this morning until the polls opened.
At 9:19 am
Two hours. I've had to post signs on the front doors to keep them closed so the pressure difference doesn't break out windows, then post another sign on the door to allow visitors and people who have business here entry without being accused of line-breaking and scuffles breaking out as a result of the arguments.
Then I had to post a "Line Up Here" sign for people waiting for an empty voting booth - there are 40 of them in my office and a line.
One woman came in with 6 children under the age of 6. They all discovered the acoustics in here and screamed and shrieked for the whole 30 minutes the mother took to vote - and she never once shushed them.
One of the poll workers has already asked me if I have aspirin.
And this is Itzl at 9:00 am:
He's in the middle of a "dirty paw" sign over the group of children screaming and the parent is doing nada.
These are the people that were lined up at 6:45 this morning, the ones who were at the end of the line going out the door, across the parking lot, down the entry drive and then to the street and down the street - the line was probably a quarter mile long. They are just now coming in the door at 9:14 am.
At 10:00 am - there was a brief scuffle at the door as a visitor tried to come in through the line. Security wasn't available so I had to go and escort the visitor in. I guess the signs are not doing their job or people just flat aren't reading them.
Itzl alerting to the scuffle:
I also just realized I forgot part of my lunch - I have Itzl's food and snacks, but mine didn't make it into my bag. That means I am going to have to spend a fortune calling for delivery, and hoping the voters let the delivery driver through!
