Here's food for thought from Erick Erickson:
The outside groups need to have a serious accounting. For months they touted their get out the vote efforts, ground game, ad operations, polling operations, voter contact, etc. and they really were full of b.s. for the most part.
I never really thought about it that way. Citizens United was a terrible decision that threw a blanket of secrecy over money in the election. But while the groups had no accountability to reveal their donors, Erickson is accusing them of not having any accountability TO their donors either.
"Sure, we knocked on 500 doors and made 1000 calls and there's a massive GOTV effort going on. How about $5 million more?"
Part of the reason I'm a liberal and a believer in big government is the open books and accountability that it brings. Perhaps insisting on secrecy is bad news for all Americans after all.
