Very good news across the country and here at home. Very nearly a clean sweep for candidates on Maria's List.
Warren-wow! I think Senate-elect Warren can be a key actor in the progressive movement to challenge the power of Wall Street. But much depends on us and how we organize. The attacks on her are likely to be very be harsh.
Only one loss on Maria's List--Val Demings in FL-10 lost 48-52%, a great candidate in a tough district.
A sweep in NH- US House and Gov: Kuster, Shea-Porter, Hassan. All women.
Gallego wins in TX. Takano wins in CA (a public school teacher and first open gay person to congress from CA), Horsford in NV. Bonamici in OR. Lujan Grisham in NM.
In the Senate- WI elected the first openly gay person to the US Senate Tammy Baldwin. Brown (Ohio), Stebenow (MI), Gillibrand (NY), Hirono (HI), Sanders (VT), all clean up.
I think we need to be prepared to fight for a national agenda, to localize it, pick and go after targets that make the case for big changes. We need to push hard to make sure Warren can carry through on her promises. And in the next two months, we need to prevent any cuts to social programs (social security, etc), but restore higher taxes on the rich.
Let's look forward to more winning!
