A few months back we talked about a skirmish in the defamation action brought by Bradlee Dean against Rachel Maddow, NBC, and others. Zenbasson's diary from July can be found here.
It can now be reported that the trial court dismissed the action entirely and Mr. Dean has appealed. A little more after the cryptic orange squiggle.
The court directory of filings in the case can be found here. You have to search for a 2011 case, type CA, number 006055. What you get is a table of contents to the court file, but you can't read the text of all the orders.
The important news is that in July the court ordered Mr. Dean to pay Rachel/NBC's attorneys fees for a motion in the case of about $25,000. That was the subject of the prior diary. The new development is that in October the court made an order that Mr. Dean file something telling the court whether he paid the $25,000 like the court told him to or not. Mr. Dean had a deadline of November 13, but he didn't answer the question, so the next day the court threw Mr. Dean out of court on his ear.
Dean has already filed a notice of appeal.
Surprising that a Google search shows no mention of the dismissal other than by Newsbusters, which I won't link to on general principals.
