Okay, so on April 27, 2011, I get this email from somebody named scoop who is informing me that I am now a Trusted User. I also noticed that I had this "Hidden" choice where, having been with this community since 2006, I knew that to mean that I could vote to hide an errant comment.
Well, I only used this "power" once as I recall and that was to vote disapproval to someone who advocated blowing someone's head off (think he/she was talking about Breitbart). I don't think talking violence is a very cool thing.
Anyway, I went fairly dormant on Dkos for a while, came back, and BAM - no more Hidden button. Okay, so I'm not a trusted user anymore. That's okay because, if I'm on the iPad or something, and hit recommend, sometimes I get too close to the hidden button and it makes me nervous. So, yeah, I liked not having that choice in that situation.
But...I was also stripped of the privilege of seeing all the other hidden comments, troll diaries and the like - which can be very entertaining.
So, what I don't understand is how come I'm in this seesaw with scoop? As noted below, I have had TU given and taken away 7 times. WTF? Either I'm trusted or not:

Well, it's not a big deal but it's not too logical either. I think this TU thing is based on a secret formula - UID, number of followers, number of postings/comments, HR's against you, etc. Well, I don't have many followers, only 4 I think - and why anyone follows me is a mystery. I don't want anyone following me. I once wrote a guest column in a Northern Virginia newspaper back in the early '90s and some weirdo sent me an illiterate letter stating that he'd follow me anywhere. I preferred the guy who telephoned me at home on another column - an anti-Ollie North thing - and he called me an "asshole." That's much more preferrable. At least I knew he was just mad and not crazy.
So, I don't understand the TU seesaw. I've only been HR'd twice - once during the '08 campaign (I was for Hillary) and I commented wryly, I thought, that it seemed the Obama supporters at this one particular rally were "frenzied." And another HR hid my comment in a diary by Keith Olbermann where I told him to quit writing so many damn diaries and, yes, I called him a TV head. But, I was drunk! Okay? Besotted, wasted, waxed!
So...let's not have too much of a discussion on this. I've heard from scoop enough. Besides, I'm going to lunch.
