Let me repeat that:
Michigan DEMOCRATS can vote in the GOP primary. That's because it is an open primary.
Read what Tom Jensen had to say about the latest poll in Michigan:
Santorum's benefiting from the open nature of Michigan's primary as well. He's only up by 12 points with actual Republican voters, but he has a 40-21 advantage with the Democrats and independents planning to vote that pushes his overall lead up to 15 points.
Why would Michigan Democrats vote for Santorum, the hard right candidate, over Romney? I think it is pretty obvious:
1. People and dogs can't stand Mitt Romney. Conservatives can't stand Mr. Mormon Massachusetts. Independents can't stand Mr. Flip Flop. Democrats certainly can't stand Mr. 1%. People just don't like Mitt Romney.
2. "Let Detroit go bankrupt."
I'm not trying to make mischief here. Nobody, but nobody, actually believes that Democrats are in favor of Mr. Frothy. However, this primary does allow Michigan Democrats who wish to send a clear and unmistakable message to Mitt Romney:
Michigan is standing up for the American auto industry!
I encourage all Michigan Democrats to go to the polls and give Romney a mouthful of Santorum. Let him know that it is halftime in America and we are determined to see to it that Romney gets sent back to minors.
