Luntz spoke before GOP Presidential candidate Rick Santorum made an appearance at the annual Kent County Republican Party's Lincoln Day Dinner at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. He joked a bit to warm up the room. [...] "I actually have a 'Run, Barack, Run,' bumper-sticker but I put it on the front of my car," he continued.

Capitol and state police officers, there to ensure order, estimated the crowd to be more than 1,000 people — mostly women. The crowd formed a human cordon through which legislators walked before Monday’s floor sessions of the Republican-controlled legislature. The silent protest was over bills that would define embryos as humans and criminalize their destruction, require “transvaginal’’ ultrasounds of women seeking abortions, and cut state aid to poor women seeking abortions.

As Roman Catholic leaders and government officials clash over the proper role of religion and reproductive health, shifts in health care economics are magnifying the tension. Financially stronger Catholic-sponsored medical centers are increasingly joining with smaller secular hospitals, in some cases limiting access to treatments like contraception, abortion and sterilization.
Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne, sent a letter to Indiana House Republicans on Saturday explaining why he was the only member in the chamber not to sign onto a resolution last week celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts. The resolution applauded the group "for the strong positive influence it has had on the American woman." Morris said he did some Web-based research and found allegations that the Girl Scouts are a tactical arm of Planned Parenthood, that they allow transgender females to join, "just like any real girl," and encourage sex. Morris also said the fact that first lady Michelle Obama is honorary president "should give each of us reason to pause before our individual and collective endorsement of the organization."

"This man is really imaginative. It would be a laughing matter, if he weren't in the race for the Republican nomination to take on Barack Obama in the race for the presidency of the most powerful country in the world." Santorum said in an interview with social conservative leader James Dobson earlier this month that euthanasia makes up "ten percent of all deaths, and half of those people are euthanized involuntarily, because they are old or sick. And so elderly people in the Netherlands don't go into a hospital. They go to other country." The Dutch public broadcaster Radio 1 described Santorum's remark as "fact-free politics."

Colbert was back hosting “The Colbert Report,” which last week mysteriously canceled the tapings of two episodes. Colbert’s 91-year-old mother, Lorna Colbert, is ill. And while the comedian didn’t address her by name, he offered a “confidential” message to “a lovely lady.” Said Colbert: “Evidently, having 11 children makes you tough as nails.”

The 2010 Supreme Court ruling on Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission ushered in an era of unfettered spending on elections by corporations. In its five-to-four decision, the Supreme Court ruled that corporations could spend unlimited amounts on elections. Not every corporation is happy with that decision. The iconic ice cream company, Ben & Jerry’s sure is not. The founders of Ben & Jerry’s, Ben Cohen & Jerry Greenfield launched their “Get the Dough Out of Politics” campaign on February 13 on the MSNBC show, the Dylan Ratigan Show. Ben & Jerry’s is using its considerable clout as a beloved ice cream company to raise awareness about the Citizen’s United decision, a Supreme Court decision that, in my opinion, guts democracy. While appearing on the Dyland Ratigan Show, Greenfield said, “We have to get massive grass roots activation.”
