So, I meander over to Facebook and see a post there from Daily Kos stating that Obama's SuperPac has Started its own "Operation Hilarity".
http://www.dailykos.com/...
So I read the article and see this:
But there's too much at stake to worry about idealistic notions of what democracy should be. Luckily for all of us, Team Obama isn't restraining itself based on such idealism. They're playing to win, and this latest action is essentially strategic vindication for Operation Hilarity.
Then I go to the original article, which is supposed to be the basis for telling people in Open Primary States to go vote for Santorum, and see absolutely NOTHING telling people in Open Primary States to go vote for Santorum.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/...
I do see a strategy based on the probabilities of running against Romney versus running against Santorum. But nothing that even remotely vindicates Operation Hilarity. And there is even a sentence in there dedicated by Kos "to the squeamish".
So let me say my peace and I'll shut up. I thought this was a cute idea when I first saw it, because I live in Tennessee and I very well may vote in the Primary because of local issues and a certain homophobic "dont say gay" delegate we DON'T want going to the Convention. But I certainly would never, ever, gun-to-my-head NEVER, cast a vote for a Dangerous Theocrat like Rick Santorum. And I don't think it's cute. And I don't think this in ANY way justifies "Operation Hilarity", nor does it vindicate it.
And it actually is embarassing to me that a wonderful site that does so much good for so many, and is a respository for so many wonderful Diaries and Articles, is attaching itself to a perfectly legal ad campaign and promoting it as a vindication for something I think was loudly railed against at this very site.
One thing is NOT like the other. It is not right to bill it as such. And if you want to see the rant I posted at DU earlier today as to why Santorum needs to go and needs to GO NOW (inspired by "Suffer Joshua Suffer"), then keep reading below the squiggly thing. Otherwise, I've said my peace, and in doing so apologize to any I have offended.
I'm sorry to disagree. But we've sat back as Progressives and Democrats far too long when bullshit like this starts. This is not a game. Teenagers are out there confused and frightened. Some will attempt, and some will succeed, at suicide. Because this man and those who cheer for him are telling them they are diseased and a disgrace, an abomination. The more he talks, the more dangerous and energized his base gets. He doesn't deserve a platform. He deserves a front row seat in Hell, and nothing more. He lies and tells people we are culling the disabled. He lies and tells people they euthanize people against their will in the Netherlands and the audience gasps and weeps. He compares Obama to Hitler, and Franklin Graham says he's a Christian - that he represents Christian values - and that Obama is a Son of Islam.
No. This is not politics. There is nothing to play with here. This is dangerous extremism. This is the newfound leader of the Christian Taliban and we need to make sure his microphone is turned off, completely and immediately.
And if you haven't read this diary over at Kos, written by a woman who was moved to write about her disabled son by the horrible, "soul-raping" words of Rick Santorum, then read 'Suffer Joshua Suffer, Die Joshua Die'. Then tell me if we need to give Santorum more air time.

"I never thought it was possible that Rick Santorum could say anything that I would write a diary about. I just don't care what he has to say at this point in the game. I monitor it. I observe it. I form a few opinions on my observations. But to take the time to write a diary about something he has said lately? How would I ever care enough to do that? Yet here I am, and now I will. Because he was part of a gang raping of the soul that I experienced. He was a member of the whole party that did it to me. And he mocks me now while also hiding what he did, and if those he did it to don't tell who will ever know? It was ugly. It was only done to the most downtrodden, the most voiceless, the bone weary and pleading."
So no.. Santorum does NOT need more air time. No more validation. No more national stage. Enough.
