The lastest BLS are reporting 78 "mass layoff" events in Wisconsin in January. That means those companies that have more than 25 people employed. Here in Madison, WI Sub Zero will lay off over 100 people and send the jobs to the right to work state of AZ or to Mexico. A few years ago they threatened union workers, and they gave them concessions. Now the private owner of Sub-Zero just got rid of the workers.
My state also had the most initial claims for unemployment in the Midwest with over 6,000 claims. And the Federal Reserve is predicting Wisconsin with see overall decline for the next 6 months. We are lucky to be only one of 6 states with that honor.
So how can Scooter claim that his policies are bringing the state back? Not sure. But just as many on the right are warning that high unemployment and gas prices are going to be the end of President Obama, maybe the same will apply when the Walker recall election goes forward.
I hope so. It will be tough for Scooter and his buddies to brag about the economy. Other than that what do they have to talk about but union thugs, and mean old teachers.
