As working class people, we support Jay Inslee for Washington Governor because he grew up one of us. You cannot help the working class, unless you understand the working class.
Jay knows what it is like to earn a day’s pay doing hard work. He learned that from his working class parents. His father was a teacher and his mother was a sales clerk at Sears and Roebuck. As a young man, Jay ran a jackhammer in Seattle.
As a Congressman, Jay Inslee fought for jobs for the low income and working class, fought Wall Street when few else would, and fought for the future by supporting clean technologies and a world-class education for our youth. Jay Inslee helped create jobs in Liberty Lakeand elsewhere through his vote for the Stimulus Bill .
We progressives and working class families need to rally around Jay Inslee for Washington Governor to strengthen Washington employment, rebuild the middle class, and shrink the gap between the rich and the poor.
We know times are hard for many of you. Many have either lost your job, seen your retirement savings dry up, watched your kids’ college fund shrink, or found out that your home is worth less than you paid. Some have suffered all of these and more.
Look folks
Things won’t change in our country until our leaders stop taking orders from Wall Street and start listening to Main Street. It is that simple.
How should we tell voters to decide which candidate for Washington Governor is a supporter of working class people? Who can increase Washington employment? The best way is to look at what they have already done with their lives. Politicians will promise a lot, but what they do is all that matters.
Jay said “No” to Wall Street Shenanigans
As a U.S. Congressman, Jay Inslee stood up to Wall St. bankers when most Democrats and Republicans were letting the banks gamble with your savings accounts. Jay knew that Wall St. could not be trusted. He was right.
Jay said “No” to Bank Bailouts
In 2008 Congress passed an $800 billion bailout of big banks, but Jay again bucked his party leadership. Jay voted no. He refused to reward Wall Street bankers for causing our economic crisis.
Building a Working Washington
As a U.S. Congressman, Jay Inslee has already helped increase Washington employment. He has helped bring jobs to Spokane and Vancouver, to Seattle and Wenatchee, to Tacoma and Ellensburg, and elsewhere. Jay also played a central role in opening up apple exports to Japan that have been worth millions of dollars in trade for Washington farmers.
Jay Inslee has laid out ambitious plan to boost Washington employment as Governor. His ideas will reward innovative, creative thinking and put Washington State in the lead of a clean energy revolution.
Along with many other Democrats, Jay Inslee has come out in support of gay and lesbian marriage in the State of Washington. For many of us, this is because we view gay marriage as the civil rights struggle of our generation.
