Ignore any
pesky data compiled by NASA of global temperature readings streaking skyward like inverted lightning. Fear not, for yay, Senator James Inhofe (R-Prophet) assures us all, every one, the Holy Ghost of conservativism has been on the case since the universe was created, lo these thousands of
years ago:
Well actually the Genesis 8:22 that I use in there is that “as long as the earth remains there will be springtime and harvest, cold and heat, winter and summer, day and night.” My point is, God’s still up there. The arrogance of people to think that we, human beings, would be able to change what He is doing in the climate is to me outrageous.
That's right, sinners, who do you think you are in the great scheme of divinely authorized climate changing biota anyway? Mindless bacteria drifting in the primeval ocean, green plants without a single neuron to call their own, yes, they might be able to pull it off. But eight billion humans burning teratons of carbon-laden syrup that took a zillion years to store up in the space of a few decades, have no chance.
- Speaking of Republican Jesus, some creepy social conservatives are setting up shop in a school near you, using a harmless clubby name:
What they don’t realize is that the Good News Clubs stealthily promote that gay-hatin’, science-despisin’, Pat Robertson-style fundamentalism directly to their children, while asking them not to talk about it to Mommy and Daddy. They will cheerfully take in the children of Catholics and Jews, so that they can tell those children that Catholics and Jews will burn in Hell.
- There's been a lot of talk (and very cool pics) about solar storms over the past few weeks as our middle-aged star enters the most active phase in its 11 year cycle. A good place to keep on top of raw data and real time events is this NASA SoHo webpage and Space.com's solar weather watch.
- I haven't seen one yet, but word is the new iPad display is friggin phenomenal.
- Scientists re-examining beautifully preserved fossils of a strange, four-winged flying dinosaur have been able to determine the actual color of the little critter. Check out that dino's even weirder feathered cousin in comments below.
