Good morning and welcome to Saturday Morning Garden Blogging!

WTF?
Is it warm enough for you? What a wacky and wild week of weather we've had at the tail end of a winter that barely was. When welso and GUG report that it was downright toasty in Ohio and Connecticut and warmer there than it was here in Central Texas you know something just ain't right. Fortunately the low pressure system sweeping eastward across the country brought Austin almost three inches of still much-needed rain early Monday morning. Since the front barreled through we've had glorious sunny days with bright blue skies and blissfully pleasant temperatures.
The rain and warmth have really pushed Spring into high gear. Surprisingly bountiful bluebonnets are almost at their peak, trees are budding fast and furious, and many of the early bloomers are already waning. The air is perfumed with the sweet intoxicating scent of flowers in bloom and the bees and butterflies are dancing and flitting about in full force and in reassuring numbers.

Wet and Woozly
With all the recent rains the creek is running again and Dusty couldn't have been more pleased about it during our recent trek to his favorite swimming spot although the water was much too swift to allow him to swim. He splashed and played around at the water's edge which made him just as happy and excited once he realized how cold the water was! We're going to take full advantage of the creek in the coming weeks because we had to wait 18 months for there to be any flowing water at all due to the damned drought. Eventually the flow rate will diminish enough so that he can swim and play fetch in the creek.
There were a few other creatures playing in the water and sunning themselves on the banks during our visit. Fortunately Dusty didn't notice the hard-shelled swimmers but they did notice me and turned out to be very camera shy and quickly and quietly slipped into the creek.
I was walking Dusty the other day and happened by a Rusty Blackhaw viburnum in bloom. The flowers are soft and delicate and the fragrance is pure heaven. I would love to add one to my gardening Wish List but this variety of viburnum grows fairly tall and I just don't have the right spot or enough room for one. Maybe eventually I'll figure out where to squeeze one in along with all the other "must have" plants and flowers I yet to have....
Thanks to everyone who participated and wrote messages and greetings for Franki's birthday card last week. I think she asked me to fill in today because she's still reading through them all.
So how hot or cold or odd or normal has it been where you live? And what is on your garden Wish List for the coming season or coming years?
