I just finished watching/listening to Chris Matthews "interview" Joe Oliver. The show is called Hardball, right? Suggesting hard-hitting questions? Something more than what I'd see on The Today Show, for example? Chris Matthews - you're pathetic.
Joe Oliver has been making the rounds today for anyone who will listen. He's got an agenda: discredit all information that has been released to date, coyly accuse Trayvon of being the aggressor and dismissing accounts of a racial epithet as "oh, he was just saying 'goon,' which my 17 year old daughter informs me is a term of endearment."
Seriously?
Oliver's entire "argument" is based completely on conjecture, speculation and it doesn't remotely pass anyone's smell test. Everything about his statements are such an insult, but I wasn't surprised when, for example, The Today Show let it all go unquestioningly into the ether. When Chris Matthews breathlessly announced that he had "new" information to impart with respect to Trayvon Martin, I expected at least a tiny bit of push-back, especially when I saw that the "new" information was courtesy of Mr. Oliver. At the very least, any sentient being would ask a follow up question of why someone chasing a person believed to be a fleeing criminal would use a term of endearment. Not our bold "Hardball" host, who meekly stared at the screen as if he had been asked to answer the question of how life began. The rest of the segment followed the exact formula; Zimmerman's mouthpiece spewed more frothy nothingness and Matthews lapped it up.
Hey Chris, you just lost a viewer for good. You're an insult to your profession.
