You've got to say one thing for those crazy House Republican freshmen:
They're creative.
In a break with party leaders, some House Republicans want the GOP to take credit for the improvement in the economy that has occurred under their majority. [...]
“I don’t know why they don’t make it, but I believe it’s the truth,” said freshman Rep. Jeff Landry (R-La.). “I believe that if anybody’s going to get a pat on the back for [lower] unemployment and the better economy, it’s House Republicans, and not the president and not the Senate.”
Yes, all those votes to defund Planned Parenthood have really done the trick. That, and the
U.S. credit downgrading because of the crisis they manufactured with the debt ceiling. Oh, and don't forget
cutting disaster relief. Or the
31 times the House GOP blocked Democratic jobs bills.
That'll work.
Beyond that bit of ridiculousness, they're messing up House Speaker John Boehner's game plan to keep a focus on the weak economy and how it's all President Obama's fault. His message is that it's too soon to be celebrating and that the weak recovery could come falling down with further European instability and rising gas prices. What all this shows is that Boehner's grip on his caucus continues to weaken. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.
