This week, the Dark Anger-Filled Hateful Core of Crass Consumerist Anti-Humanist Conservatism has literally exploded across our airwaves and internet.
It's quite a thing to see isn't it?
Shocking, clearly - but we shouldn't be shocked. We should have known this has always been who they were. I'm reading a lot of really good work on this today. As kossack Glen Wright points out...
He was so bursting at his already horribly strained seams with hate, this time he pretty much blew to bloody blubbery pieces, like Monty Python's Mr. Creosote. Thing is, Rush isn't a right-wing extremist. He's a right-wing mainstreamer.
And this is precisely true. Limbaugh has built and maintains his radio empire by vicariously
channeling the deepest darkest thoughts from the lizard brain of conservative and "bravely" speaking them out loud.
We may be shocked, but Limbaugh's flock nods their heads in unison. "Yeah - you tell 'em Rush. Damn Sluts should stop stealing money out of my pocket."
You can see it right here in this heart-renching note that beantown mom's 16-year-old daughter, who takes birth control to correct severe menstrual imbalances, found shoved in her locker...
Little miss innocent, huh? Whatever slut- you take birth control pills so you can f*&# every guy in school! What a joke- u are nothin but a whore! Pretty bad when some guy on the radio who isn't afraid to tell the truth has to break it down for everybody- if u on the Pill u are nothing but a skank ass ho! My mom said girls on the pill are tramps who just wanna get laid and don't care about nothin- is that how u are?
See, Rush isn't a mean guy. He's just "telling it like it is". It's
your fault if you're offended.
Except of course, he isn't. He doesn't have even a fraction of his facts right as I myself noted yesterday Sandra Fluke's actual testimony didn't even mention having sex. Her primary point was about a friend of hers with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome who need birth control pills to prevent that condition for flaring up, and because she was denied coverage by Georgetown and she couldn't afford the out-of-pocket cost, it did flare up sending her to emergency room and eventually surgery to have one of her ovaries removed.
But Dark-Hearted Selfish Myopic "Conservatives" (who don't really believe in Conserving anything of value) don't see people like Beantown Girl, or Sandra Fluke's one-ovary-less friend. Who by the way, is Gay, so getting birth control for her had nothing to do with trying to "f#*k every boy at school".
They don't see the facts. The don't see the people who are harmed emotionally and physically by their agenda. They only see themselves. They only see their own pocketbooks. And if other people get hurt, well they deserved it didn't they?
This week we've gotten a very keen view into who they are. Small-minded. Bitter. Vicious. Ignorant. Selfish.
Now we need to take that realization, stand up and show them who we are.
To me it seems that all of these threads are coming together. Maybe it's because the Conservatives are seeing the handwriting on the wall. They see that in all likelihood Barack Obama will be re-elected to his second full term, and may even restore the Congress to Democratic hands with the ability to continue and expand the agenda they begin during his first two years in office.
This scares the absolute crap out of them, cowards that they are.
And we need to at least understand why clearly. Over and over again, they are argueing for - at their heart - the rights not of people or individuals, but the rights of corporations and property owners.
Look at the Georgtown/Catholic Bishops issue. It's not about religious freedom, although they will bellow that canard to the highest, it's actually about the rights of a business to control and limits the rights of their employees.
Time and time again, Conservatives will line up with the Owners and their rights, the would be 1%, against the rights of those that they seek to "own". Their employees and their customers.
You can see it when Ron and Rand Paul argue for "Civil Liberties", but then immediately turn around and claim that the "Civil Rights" of individuals are trumped by the Property Rights of Business Owners to treat anyone they want like crap for any reason what so ever.
They claim that they stand to "Protect Life", but they don't seem to want to Protect People who are actually living. How can you be pro-life, and not pro-prenatal health care? How can you be anti-abortion and at the same time anti-contraceptives and condoms that would prevent abortion? How can you battle for the "sanctity of life" yet sit idly by while 40,000 per year die because they can't get, or can't afford healthcare?
Life isn't a "Right" if people don't have the right to protect their ability to Live.
The reason they word are about "Life" and their actions are clearly about "Anti-Life" is because it's not about life, it's about control. It's about power. They want that power in privatized corporate hands whenever possible, their hands they think, not in the hands of the the "small" people who work and live and buy stuff and not in the hands of the government which would limit those corporations, and therefor limit them, or so they think. In the end, it's not that their anti-choice... their anti-freedom, because a choice is pointless if you don't have the freedom to exercise that choice.
They claim to know who are true "Christians" and who are not, yet they seem to completely ignore all the things that Jesus - he who was called "The Christ" - actually taught. Jesus fed the hungry. Jesus healed the sick. Jesus preached forgiveness "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone" Jesus said, "That which you do until the least of those among you, you do onto God."
Yet they are throwing verbal and literal rocks, brickbats (and occasionally bombs and bullets) at anyone who dares stand against their view of the world.
They magically forget that Jesus said "It would more difficult for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven, than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle". And yet they continue to worship nothing so much as money. because for them the ultimate power is money, and the benefit of power is "Freedom". Freedom to fuck over anyone you feel like and get away with it.
Their big bad desperate fight to limit government and drown it in a bathtub isn't about protecting individual liberty. They argue that they want "small government" while promoting bills that literally put government into a woman's vagina against her will, and against her doctors will, with a ultrasonic probe. Yes, people that's Rape. They rail at the Federal Government's "failures", then immediately turn around and attempt to expand State Government power into the Federal arena with laws like Arizona's SB1070.
Does anyone actually know what it was that had Jan Brewer so upset she was wagging her finger in the President's face? It was because he had, heaven forfend, said she didn't treat him "cordially" in her book "Scorpions for Breakfast", which is a screed defending her immigration approach and saying that the President had been "condescending too her" when they had met to discuss the matter.
Here's the thing, He's the President and you're not. The President and Executive Branch handle Immigration under the Rules established by Congress - it's right here in the Constitution - you don't!
Powers of Congress: To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;
You can't have "Uniform Rules" if one state does one thing and others States go off and do something different. That way leads to chaos. It would be the same thing i individual states started to come up with their own Bankrupcy rules. Completely insane and completely unconstitutional.
But they don't get that. They don't want to get that. So when Obama tried to explain that to Brewer she whines that he was "Lecturing" here.
Woman, you desperately need a lecture.
A lot of them need a lecture, but I have my doubts they will ever listen since they are essentially a well heeled and programmed a Cult of Paranoia. Fed for years by the rantings of Limbaugh, Hannity, Ingraham, Beck, Hewitt as well as the blatant lies and 1% worshiping propaganda of Fox News they now seem to completely unable to understand that this Country isn't made just for the Owners, but also for those who Rent and Borrow. They don't seem to understand that Corporations Don't Have Rights, that owning and operating a business isn't a right granted by God, It's a Privilege that is Duly Regulated by the State to protect the actual rights of the People who interact with that business. Yet again, it's right there in the Constitution.
Powers of Congress: To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations, and among the several States, and with the Indian Tribes;
It's the Governments duty to protect the people from a legal entity of reduced liability (which is what Corporation is) from riding roughshod over the rights of their workers, their customers and their competitors.
In their utopian libertard Ayn Randian fantasy world there would be no government to perform this function. The corporations would simply battle it out with each other, using what ever means and tools they could devise to grow their customer base, whether it be through fraud or deception - it matters not, only whether they Win or lose. It would be like Anything Goes Football and Full Contact MMA Basketball without referees. Just GO FOR IT, and whoever doesn't end up maimed and killed deserves the spoils. Rollerball wasn't fiction to these people, they think it's an Operating Manual. They call it the "Free Market" - but in truth it's Full-on Corporate Feudalism.
If all their wildest dreams came true, that's the world we would live in. One of complete and total feudalism, with Super-Rich Corporate Overlords living in their Gated Castles dictating to their lackeys and their victims how best they will serve or else be cast aside to suffer the cruel fate of the unprotected. Corporate Gangsters would rule us, like the Druglords in Mexico or the Pirates of Somalia. Police would be privatized. Profitized, and only protect those with the cash to pay. When Rick Santorum argues that "Government shouldn't be involved in Education at all" he's basically saying that Schools should be profitized to create the most capable corporate drones for the next generation of Corporate Raiders, not that the burden of investing in our future should be shared evenly across all income spectrums and streams. Fire Departments would be for Profit. You pay, you survive, you don't - you burn. We've seen real life examples of this. And when people's homes do burn down, when people die from lack of access to affordable health care.. the Right Wing cheers it on. Culling the flotsom from the herd is how they see it. Everything would be up for sale to the highest bidder, and those without the cash to pay would be just shit out of luck. The Rich would have more and More and the rest would have nothing or less than nothing. No Hope, No Future.
And when we complain, we are called Jealous and Envious of their "betters", the "Job Creators" who just fired our brother, and our sister ("I Like to Fire People") just to pad their profit margin and increase their stock value. And when we fight back we are accused of "Class Warfare" when in fact the war has already been going on for generations, only now we know it's going on, only now we're finally fighting back.
It's easy to see who they are if you look. They are eager, willing and able lickspittle of the Corporate Super-People Class, whom they think "they'll be joining soon". Yeah, right pal. With you and what Lottery Ticket? Look: is that a black bear and a polar bear about to maul you at the same time? Odds are about the same as hitting it Rich, and their getting worse all the time.
But that's not who we are. That's not what America is. We know that becoming Rich isn't the be-all-end-all of the American Dream. President Obama knows this and if he wins again this November America just may turn permanently away from such nihilism toward a bright future of shared sacrifice, increased options and opportunity for all persons regardless of race, gender, creed, religion or economic status. This is the argument we're having with the Right Wrong-Wing of the Republican Party, these are the stakes.
That is the America or our dreams and their nightmares. The closer it comes the louder they scream, the harder they struggle, the more elbows they throw, the more people they are willing to hurt.
And ironically as they struggle, as they make who and what they are clear by their horrific dark examples, it more and more likely that that better America will arrive sooner rather than later. By their works, they are known.
That America will come, even if it is over their cold dead microphones and laptops.
It will come, and all those who believe in the better, greater America - the true America of Oppurtunity, Justice and Promise - all those who find Limbaugh, and Dana Loesch, and Santorum and Ron & Rand Paul's dystopic nihilism to be far, far beyond the pale will be the ones who bring that America into reality.
That includes us, and all those whom we can bring to the cause.
God Bless America.
