The local Democrats in Monroe County, PA, worked long and hard to get signatures for Maureen Madden to oppose the Republican Mario Scavello for the 176th District.

Maureen Madden - Democrat for the 176th District
She will be on the ballot, so we will have a fair fight in November right? That's how a Democracy works, correct?
Not in the 176th district, where Bagel Store businessman Mario Scavello has held sway for the past eight years.
Join me below the schmear of cream cheese for how yet another Republican doesn't quite get the whole Democracy thing.
I got an e-mail from the MCDC -
Dear Committeepeople in the 176th PA state representative district,
You recently received an email from me asking that you help us find Democrats without Voter ID by pollwatching inside your polling places. You may have received, in today's mail, as I did, a request from Mario Scavello that you write him in as the DEMOCRAT in Tuesday's election. He's afraid he can't win in November with a competent, knowledgeable and honest Democrat, Maureen Madden, on the ballot. So he wants to run on both tickets, hoping we'll ignore the fact that he votes REPUBLICAN in Harrisburg.
If you have ever been exposed to his write-in campaigns, you know that he will have one or more of his supporters at every polling place, all day, accosting voters, handing them a pencil, explaining how to perform a write-in, showing them the place on the ballot where the write-in occurs, BUT NEVER TELLING THE VOTER THAT MARIO IS A REPUBLICAN. His supporters are aggressive and dishonest.
Mario also had a robo-call in which he "mistakenly" said the election was on "May 18th" - not April 24th.

So he wants to run unopposed, and then a robo-call is made that could result in suppressing the vote - see a pattern here? I think you do.
I posted about this on my community's Facebook page, and people just did not get it. I said, if you want to voter for Mario in November (biting my tongue hard) - vote for him, but please don't make this a one-party race.
Most said how nice hew was, he walked with them in a charity walk, he will get money for our gated community (not true, but they believe it).
Republicans see nothing wrong with this. It's ok - no problem - what's the BFD?
My head hurts.
