"There was a time not so long ago when each of us could walk a little taller and stand a little straighter because we had a gift that no one else in the world shared. We were Americans."
-Mitt Romney, April 2012
"For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback."
-Michelle Obama, 2008
At the time, Michelle Obama was blasted for her comment by those on the right, and her patriotism was questioned as her comment became a topic of endless media discussion. Some on the right still have never gotten over the comment. But unlike Romney, Michelle Obama was speaking about a newfound pride in America and a feeling of hope. Romney is arguing the opposite; he no longer believes Americans should take pride in their country, that there's no reason for Americans to hold their heads up high.
Let the endless media discussion begin.
