Standard disclaimer: Leave your loathing of meta, World of Warcraft, or community diaries outside. If you think we should be playing your MMO instead, start a guild and write a recruitment diary. Don't leave a comment here and then get all hurtful when it isn't received with flowers and candy. This goes double for people coming in to attack guildies over other diaries or comments - STAY OUT! Link to your recruitment diary is OK though.
Standard advertisement: Wreck List is the Daily Kos World of Warcraft guild. We are Horde-side on the Garrosh server. To join, read this diary ,visit the Guild web site, roll up a character on Garrosh and when you log in type
/who wreck list
and contact (via in-game mail or /whisper) any of our members - who can direct you to someone with /ginvite privileges and get you a guild invite. Yes, you have to be Horde. No, you don't have to be hardcore - casuals, PvPers, and people that just want to hang out on guild chat are all welcome.
More below the fold:
Well, Netroots Nation 2012 is just around the corner. A number of us are planning to attend, and some of us live close enough to make the drive for a Wreck List meetup or dinner.
How many of y'all, if any, are up for this?
I live close enough that Providence is an hour and a half drive away - so even if I can't swing a NN12 membership this year I can still show up to a meetup.
One caveat: This must not, absolutely not, in no way conflict with the C&J Dinner which I believe is the Thursday night before Netroots Nation.
Let us know in comments if you plan to go or are in the area, and what weird local cuisine we can expect from the native Rhode Islanders.
Two raiding reports and a raiding announcement this week:
Team Kaels report via Ninotchka:
I am happy and relieved to report that Team Kaels has passed another hurdle on the road to complete Dragon Soul domination. Yes, we finally beat Hagara on heroic mode. It was almost anticlimactic, we beat her in a one-shot. Hagara has two special dance phases – ice phase and lightning phase. We had gotten to the point where lightning phase was very easy for us, a few seconds of shuffling our feet and we were done. But we were less smooth on ice phase.
When you first see Hagara float into view, you can tell which phase will be first from the enchant on her weapon. I had come to expect that our best attempts would be when her axes crackle with lightning, so when she appeared with little snowflakes drifting down I was sure that our first pull would be a practice pull. And, sure enough, just as the ice phase started we had a bad dispel, I waited a little too long to try to run around it and I didn’t have my damage reduction cooldown on, and I died to an ice wave. Oh, well, at least I had practice.
But it was not to be. A nicely timed in-battle resurrection from Ashblade and I was fighting again. We aced lightning phase, and another ice phase loomed into view. I was determined not to fail on ice waves or frost patches again. And I didn’t. And nobody else did, either. It was amazing. It’s trite to say it, but a Warcraft raid encounter is a dance. And figuring out the moves often makes you feel like an idiot with 2 left feet. But when you get the steps down, when you manage to move in synch with a set of good partners, it’s magical. I still feel like I’m stumbling and missing a cue here or there, but at the right time last night, I found grace.
Our next challenge is heroic Gunship. Remember back in ICC, when the gunship battle was the lootship and the easiest part of your evening? Yeah, not so much this time around. If you’ve done gunship in lootfinder, er, raidfinder, imagine doing it with everything hitting harder, dying slower, and the deck is on fire.
On fire!
Whimper.
Team PamRubi report from Pamena:
A report from Team PamRubi:
We are still working on heroic Ultraxion, and came much closer last Friday to getting it done, so we're encouraged. This past Tuesday was notable because Elu was not able to be there, and Lawlbanked works on Tuesday nights and so wouldn't get home until almost 10PM. So, Hummper switched to his paladin Xium to be our third healer, and glancing over the people on line in the guild roster, we found none of our usual backups on, and so grabbed up....Baelzebabe!!! Yes, it's Baelz back in the game, but on a new DK that he boosted to 80 thanks to the Scroll of Resurrection that someone [ahem] sent him. He got the new Baelz to 85 on Sunday, and Rubidium and I had spent time Tuesday afternoon filling in some armor gaps with crafted pvp gear so he could get into Hour of Twilight dungeons. Still - item level 368 is a tad low for heroic Morchok, but Baelz was willing to try, so away we went. He did fine, and after a few wipes, we finally got Morchok again on heroic - I must plug here the heroic healing of Rubidium who handles the solo side. He is just that good. We did the rest of the first wing on normal, and we are ready to tackle heroic Ultraxion again Friday night.
And a raiding announcement also from Pamena:
Casual and Heritage Raids - there for the taking!
I wanted to once again suggest that anyone who wants to put together a raid group - perhaps even a casual group that goes maybe once a week - should feel free to do that, and I'll help any way I can short of actually attending. We've got a number of people who've come back recently, and I know several people feel pretty close to tackling Dragon Soul on normal, so ya'll please do give it a try! I put a guild LFR on the calendar for Saturday at 7:30PM, just as a rallying point for folks who might want to do an LFR - and there are of course all sorts of older raids that folks could also have fun doing, like Ulduar, ICC, or the earlier Cata raids in BWD, BOT and TOTW, and Firelands. We've got a few months yet until MOP comes out for real, so this is a great time to explore all that raid content you never got to do earlier in game! I will keep putting suggested older raids on the calendar for those who want to try them - Ulduar, for example, is just a great experience if you never got a chance to do it in Wrath, or even if you did, it's fun to go back.
