Mitt Romney has a lot to say about Obama's "failed" national economic policies as president. But what about Romney's failed national economic policies as president?
What's that you say?
Mitt Romney hasn't yet passed any of his core job policies as President of the United States?
Huh.
Looks like he and Obama might have something in common after all.
Let's face it.
The only core economic policies that Obama has been able to get through the Republican House of Representatives are tax cuts.
And the only "policies" that have been enacted wrt jobs are job cuts by the (often Republican run) states in terms of public sector jobs - teachers, police officers, firemen.
Tax cuts don't create jobs. We warned everyone about that. Obama warned everyone about that.
Tax cuts help rich people. Due to modern productivity, employers can simply force their employees to work harder rather than hire new people. Then they just pocket their tax breaks as profit for investors etc. That's the Bain Capital way.
Without demand, the jobs won't come. Only a significant and sudden increase in demand will force employers to grudgingly hire enough private sector employees to get the employment level near to its historic "comfort zone." Otherwise modern technology, computers, etc - the economy has been reconfigured in terms of productivity and the desperation of workers and employers have it where they want it.
Without returning the public sector employees to their jobs after the wave of Republican job cuts, that demand won't be there.
So, it would be nice if America could actually see Obama's economic and job policies in action before condemning him.
Will Republicans let that happen? No.
They've purposely sabotaged the economy with reckless austerity and public sector job cuts like we see in Europe. They did this for political purposes, to try to undermine the economy while Obama was in power. What they've done is totally irresponsible and immoral - in the patriotic sense, certainly. They know what they're doing, and they know austerity won't create jobs.
Obama is right to point out that his entire economic agenda is still waiting on the sidelines if/when Republicans decide to be patriots and pass job creation bills. He knows they won't.
The only way that job creation will take a front seat to huge corporate profits is if Democrats retake the House and can pass legislation. Otherwise we'll be stuck in the current corporate-ocracy and the gov't will be powerless to stop it (as the Tea Party planned - paralyzing the government for corporate profit is their real agenda, and that's why global corporate businesses and their political think-tanks support the Tea Party).
But let's not pretend Obama's economic policies have failed America.
Obama's economic policies haven't even been tested.
The only thing we've tested are tax cuts and public sector layoffs, and those are 100% Republican agenda items.
Republican economics failed. They held our economy hostage. We tried their economic policies again. They failed again.
The only economic philosophy that has been tried and tested is Mitt Romney's economic philosophy.
He knows he's lying about Obama and his economic legacy.
He knows his own policies would only make the rich richer and the middle class more desperate if he were to win in November.
The only question is whether Americans are going to get fooled by Romney and his Bush-onomics all over again.
