Our next meet-up will be NEXT SUNDAY, June 24th, at Old Wives Tales, 1300 East Burnside - Portland, OR 97214 - (503)238-0470. There is a lot of free parking.
From 4 to 5 we will meet in the East Dining Room
From 5 to whenever we will move to the main dining room to continue talking among ourselves, and, if you like [ but not required ] have something to eat [ Holly* is famous for her soups, and the menu has everything from full dinners, salads, salad bar, sandwiches and to die for desserts ]
Old Wives Tales offers a choice of three dining rooms. The spacious Main Dining Room with adjoining Children's Playroom features jazz and other recorded contemporary instrumental music. The smaller Classical Music Dining Room offers a quieter, more intimate ambience. We will begin our meeting in The East Dining Room. From 4 to 5 we will have that room to ourselves so that we can hear tales of Providence from those who attended and see { hint, hint, hint! } your pictures.
In the comments, will someone let us know that you are bringing your laptop?
Bring your kiddies - for toddlers to 10 year olds
The Children's Playroom provides a place for toddlers to 10 year olds to entertain themselves, so parents and other adults can enjoy a more leisurely dining experience.
Special dietary problems? This could be your kind of place to eat.
Over the years, the large moderately priced menu has expanded to meet a wide variety of dietary needs and preferences, such as food allergies, gluten and lactose intolerance, vegan and low carb/high protein. Diners are empowered to meet their individual needs because the ingredients in the various dishes are listed on the printed menus and on the cards posted by the Soup and Salad Bar, including such details as type of non-hydrogenated oil and type of vinegar.
Something I learned while talking to *Holly - the owner of Old Wives Tales
*Holly is a Progressive to very liberal Democrat. She came from Chicago in 1964 to go to Reed College. She was very involved in the women's rights movement, all of the anti-war demonstrations, and lurks at Daily Kos from time to time. Her restaurant has always served as a meeting place for many community groups.
