Talking Points Memo
As part of a huge release of information, prosecutors disclosed that a woman came forward in March to say that Zimmerman sexually abused her off and on for years, beginning when they were both children and continuing until she was 19. Following the release, Zimmerman’s attorneys said the woman is his cousin. She has told authorities he is about two years older than her.
...
Now, prosecutors have released audio recordings of the woman’s March 20 interview with investigators. In it, she can be heard crying as she recounts years of what she said was sexual abuse by Zimmerman while they were growing up together.
“This is the first time in my life that I’m not afraid of him,” she told the investigators.
...
She said the abuse started when she was 6 years old and Zimmerman was 8. Zimmerman is now 28. The incidents happened when her parents sent her to visit Zimmerman’s parents, she alleged.
Now, I don't have a lot to say about this because it is merely an ellegation - but it does make me wonder.
This is one of two things, it's a case of someone piling on with a cousin they have a grievance with - either legitimate or not - or else it's a very illuminating window into the true personality and psyche of George Zimmerman.
As the former would make this accuser into a potential liar, and there is yet no evidence of that besides the natural unseemliness of further victimizing someone who is reporting being repeatedly and relentless victimized already. I would tend to favor the later.
Particularly since this behavior is very much like Zimmerman's related Racial harassment of a coworker which was previously released by the prosecution it seems that they may be building a character and credibility case against George that would put any of his statements, either on the stand or previously to police in his re-enactment video at seriously jeopardy.
Since George's only real defense in the shooting of Trayvon Martin are his own claims and statements, this could mean great trouble for his case. Or it might all be inadmissible.
