Teacher's Comments from Ms. Beavers
My Students: "The man who has planted a garden feels that he has done something for the good of the world." -- Vita Sackville-West
I teach at a Title One urban school with a large Hispanic population. I am also the leader of our school garden club. This will be our school's third year of having over 27 garden beds. These beds were built by the students as well as the students have moved dirt, planted plants, weeded and watered their beds with the guidance of their classroom teacher. These 27 beds are teaching over 515 students through science, math, literature, as well as social skills.
My Project: Our school wants to continue student learning with gardening through teaching the students to compost.
In order to start teaching the students how to compost and the benefits of composting, our school needs a compost bin. Having a compost bin can help our students learn about macro- and micro-nutrients, enriching the soil, erosion, recycling, reusing, and so much more.
With your donation you will be helping not just one class but a whole school. That is over 515 students. Our gardening as well as composting will teach the students much more than a book can.
COMPLETED!
Donations of ANY size can make a BIG difference!
