This morning, July 7, 2012, 16th District Democratic congressional candidate Wanda Rohl joined Rockford Raps host Jay Ware for a WNTA (100.5 FM) radio discussion of the Affordable care Act (ACA). Wanda is a huge supporter of the ACA, and her story of survival (available on video at her Web site at RohlForCongress.com) and work in the health care industry makes her uniquely qualified to speak to the faults in our current health care system and the many benefits of the ACA.
Jay told a story about his daughter‘s childhood fear of bears following a visit to the zoo that manifested into fear of imaginary bears hiding in her bedroom. The host then used the term “Imaginary Bears” to describe the falsehoods being spread by conservative special interest groups and politicians to frighten people into being opposed to the Affordable Care Act. Just as his little girl was fearful of nonexistent bears, people opposed to the Affordable care Act are fearful of nonexistent issues with the Act that have been spread by opposition groups.
Wanda did a great job dispelling these myths and un-stuffing the many imaginary bears brought up by callers.
One bear that's not at all imaginary is her opponent, Adam Kinzinger, who roars about having voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act 40 times, and who promises to continue his repeal attempts if re-elected -- all the while receiving free, taxpayer-funded healthcare for himself. Apparently, what's good for the Congressman isn't good for his constituents.
