During the height of Tea Party rebellion against the Affordable Care Act, I wrote a poem to share my disgust with every single one of them. Since they still insist on trying to overturn the Affordable Care Act and have determined Chief Justice John Roberts is public enemy #1 for his stamp of approval of the mandate, it still seems applicable now.
It is below the awesome, the wonderful, the orange thingy-mabob
An ode to Hypocricy, The Party of Tea
I dedicate this to the people
the people who are blind to it
or seem to enjoy shining in it
to the party of tea
An ode to hypocrisy
You oppose extending health care affordability
While you collect your Social Security
You fully utilize your medicare or medicaid
Which you receive more than you ever paid
It's okay for you to live on the government's dime
But if someone else needs to, you declare it a crime
Oppose health care reform, you insist
You call Obama unamerican or socialist
You receive your unemployment
To which you never paid a tax
Yet, you're frustrated and continue to vent
Because reform will stop your insurance hitting a max
If you ever receive a diagnosis
To which has no cure
You'll spiral into a form neurosis
and lose your composure
For your pre-existing condition
Will not allow you to find coverage
Reform will get rid of this form of discrimination
Offering you a chance for leverage
You claim this is a freedom issue
We both know that isn't true
It's all about what benefits you
Which is nothing new
It's the word, the only word
That can explain all the contradictions above
Let the wolf eat the herd
Only to you for you, do you have love
The rest be damned
If you do not need to take part
You curse Uncle Sam
Since you do not have a heart
What is this word that I reference to
That describes the party of tea?
The one, the only--hypocrisy
