The New York Times has a timeline from Reuters going back twenty years from around the world for shootings involving 1-2 gunmen and multiple casualties. The U.S. leads with 12 on the list; 11 shootings in other countries make the list. No other country has more than two incidents.
Not making the list: the number of people killed by firearms in domestic violence each year. In violence between gangs. Or in accidental shootings. Like this.
Not making the list, attacks on abortion doctors here and here. Or here. So much for domestic terrorism.
There's really not much point in rattling off these numbers any way. The only serious recent uproar about gun control was a partisan charade. Otherwise, it's like hearing about body counts in distant lands. Easy to ignore if you don't know anyone involved.
But hey, if you think carrying a gun will make you safer, there are resources out there. Besides - it only makes sense to be armed when you can no longer count on the big bad government to protect you, thanks to budget cuts. So, if you're serious about going Galt, better weapon up now before civilization collapses.
Guns don't kill people - people kill people. Guns just make it so much easier...
