“As far as Harry Reid is concerned, listen, I know you might want to go down that road. I’m not going to respond to a dirty liar who hasn’t filed a single page of tax returns himself, complains about people with money but lives in the Ritz Carlton here down the street, ” Priebus said during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week.”
You're not going to respond? I'd say "Dirty Liar who hasn't filed a single page of tax returns himself" - is indeed a response, you dirty hypocrite.
(Note: Romney didn't release his returns when he ran for Senate in 1994 against Ted Kennedy, neither did Kennedy. Most Senators Don't.)
Here's the thing, if Harry Reid is a "dirty liar" what's that make Dana Bash?
DANA BASH, CNN SENIOR CONGRESSIONAL CORRESPONDENT: That’s right. We now have a couple of responses, Anderson. Let me read you the first one, that is, “Senator Reid stands by his comments. Governor Romney’s continued refusal to release his tax returns raises legitimate questions about what he is hiding and whether he paid any taxes at all. Governor Romney can easily end this debate by following the precedent set by his father and releasing his tax returns.”
And as you were coming on the air, Anderson, I got a follow-up like the statement, which also stands by what they call his credible source that Romney has not paid taxes for 10 years, and he’s calling Romney playing tricks, many tricks at his disposal for avoiding taxes. So not backing down at all.
I got to tell you, covering Harry Reid for a lot of years, there are times when he says things off the cuff that make his aides wince, like talking smelly tourists in the capitol. I’m not making this up. This is not one of those times.
So Reid
does have a source that says what Reid said he said. The next question is could it be true?
Maybe. I'll get into that shortly, but you don't know do you Reince? Point of Advice: If you really don't know something you should Shut the Frack Up about it. I'm just saying.
Then after we discuss the potential validity of Mr. Reid's allegation, Mr Priebus let's have a little chat about actual lying liars and the dirty lies they spread over and over again like mayonnaise on lettuce.
Dirty Little Liars like Mitt Romney.
As EngineerScotty pointed out a few days ago many in the GOP have been railing on and on about the 47% of Americans who pay no federal income tax.
Michele Bachmann has railed about it.
Q: [to Romney]: Why do you believe in a progressive tax system?
ROMNEY: I would like to see our tax rates flatter & simpler. But let's get the job done first to lower the tax rates on middle-income Americans.
Q: Romney would preserve different rates for different people. Why is he wrong?
BACHMANN: Well, I would say President Obama is the one that's wrong, because President Obama's plan for job creation has absolutely nothing to do with the true people who know how to create jobs. He should really be going to job-creators if he wants to know how to create jobs. We know what needs to be done. We have a real problem. When you have 53% of Americans paying federal income taxes, but you have 47% of Americans who pay no federal income taxes, you have a real problem. And that's why in my tax plan, I have everyone paying something because everyone benefits by this magnificent country. Freedom isn't free. We all benefit. We all need to sacrifice. Everybody has to be a part of this tax code.
Scotty considered the possibility that
Romney could have been one of those 47% - that Romney just might be one of the people the GOP was so angry at - which is something I too had considered, but now I have a better idea.
There's one simple fact that has been staring us in the face all this time.
Romney Doesn't Work.
He hasn't had a job since he was the MA Governor, and even then he took no salary, so for all intents and purposes - he hasn't paid any payroll taxes since he last took a salary from Bain Capital in 2001. As a result he hasn't paid Payroll Taxes for over Ten Years, since he Hasn't been on anyones Payroll.
If that, similar to Bachman's claim about Federal Income Taxes, is what someone at Bain told Harry Reid, That's Absolutely True.
Romney has paid NO PAYROLL TAXES FOR TEN YEARS. Period.
We know that.
What we also know is this.
TAMPA, Fla. — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney paid about $3 million in federal income taxes in 2010, having earned more than seven times that from his investments. Those earnings, $21.7 million, put him among the wealthiest of American taxpayers.
At the same time, Romney gave nearly $3 million to charity - about half of that amount to the Mormon Church - which helped lower his effective tax rate to a modest 14 percent, according to records his campaign released early Tuesday.
For 2011, he'll pay about $3.2 million with an effective tax rate of about 15.4 percent, the campaign said. Those returns haven't yet been filed yet with the Internal Revenue Service.
Romney makes $21.7 Million a Year - Doing Nothing. He is the literal living definition of what Bill Cosby, on his long running TV show, called "Rich" when explaining to his children that he
wasn't Rich.
People who aren't Rich work for their money. With Rich people, their money works for them.
Mitt Romney is only paying 14 - 15% in taxes because all his income come from Capital Gains. From Investments, Holdings, Savings, his (impossibly massive $100 Million) IRA and Stocks. Just like his wife, who never worked - He doesn't Work,
His Money Works for Him.
If the question is has he paid none of a specific tax - like those who pay no Federal Income Tax - the answer is clearly "Hell, Yes" because he hasn't paid any payroll taxes since 2001. We have to take that as a given.
Is it possible or even plausible that with the remaining 15% he pays on capital gains that he may have in various years found havens, shelters, deductions and credits that would have completely cancelled out the $3 Million he paid in 2010 and will presumably pay in 2011? Yeah, sure. I don't see why not.
For a guy who managed to get $100M into his IRA when you can only legally put $5000 per year into such an account. Let's see 25 years at Bain x $5,000 - carry the 2... aint $100 Million. If his tax guys can work that kind of financial magic, they get find a way to get to zero payable taxes. He might have even gotten a refund.
What Harry Reid has said is entirely plausible. Someone could have told him, even mistakenly, that Romney has paid no "Payroll Taxes" in ten years and been absolutely right. They could potentially also be correct that he's paid no Federal Income Taxes - just as Michele was complaining about - for ten years with enough deductions to mitigate them. It could even go further than that and include nearly all of his taxes during one or more years.
I don't know if that's true or not, even Harry - in a display of extreme honesty - has said he doesn't know either. He's only revealed something someone else told him. Maybe you could accuse him of being a Dirty Gossip, but not a Liar. None of us know. But one person does know what's what and that person isn't Reince Priebus, it's Mitt Romney.
Mitt Romney, who LIED when he told ABC News he'd be "Happy to go and check" if he'd ever paid less than 13% in taxes - but he didn't.
Mitt Romney Lied about his Tax Returns when he was running for Governor, claiming that they stated his primary residence was in Massachusetts when it actually was in Utah. That is until he retroactively changed his returns.
Mitt Romney is Lying when he claims President Obama is trying to block the military vote in Ohio.
Mitt Romney has Lied when he claimed that President Obama told entrepreneurs "You Didn't Build [your businesses]", when he really said they didn't build the schools, roads, electrical grid or internet that made their businesses possible.
Mitt Romney has LIED when he claims that President Obama says that "Government Makes Jobs", he's only said that Government can help, which it can.
Mitt Romney has LIED when he said the President Obama policies "haven't created one job" - they've created about 4.5 Million Jobs.
Mitt Romney is LYING when he says that his tax plan will create 12 Million Jobs, it Won't. We would lose 350,000 jobs in the first year alone.
Mitt Romney is Lying when he claims his Tax Plan won't Drown the Middle Class in Tax Increases and Fees. It Will.
Mitt Romney is LYING when he says he deserves credit for Saving the U.S. Auto Industry, when what he really said was "Let Detroit Go Bankrupt" without any Federal Help.
Mitt Romney is LYING when he says President Barack Obama has "never had a real job in the Private Sector" -he worked for four years at Business International Corporation and New York Public Interest Research - which is where he met his wife Michelle. He was a Researcher, a Consultant, an Organizer, an Attorney, a Professor, a Legislator, a Best Selling Author, a Senator and now a President.
And there's more. So much more.
Mitt Romney either Lied to the SEC when he said he was still owner and CEO Bain Capital until 2001 or he's been Lying to the American people that he left Bain Capital for the Olympics in 1999. That is until he retroactively, changed his date of "retirement" from Bain.
He either lied about his stance on Abortion in 2002 where he said he wanted to "Protect a Woman's Right to Choose", or he's lying now when he says he wants to overturn Roe V Wade.
He either lied about being "to the left of Ted Kennedy" on Marriage Equality in 1994 when he ran for Senate, or he's lying now when he says he believes only in "Opposite Marriage".
He either lied that he "Didn't want to go back to Reagan/Bush" in 2002 or he's lying now when he says we need to "Return to Reagan Values".
Mitt Romney has repeatedly Lied claiming that the Health Care plan he implemented in Massachusetts isn't essentially the same plan that President Obama implemented, and that he didn't advocate that his plan be put in place all over the nation - but now says he'll Repeal It.
Everything about Mitt Romney's entire candidacy for President - Is. A. Lie
So when it comes to just who is the "Dirty Liar" Rience Priebus, I think you should probably not try to point a finger at Harry Reid, because all your other fingers are aimed at the guy standing right behind you.
Mitt Romney.

10:53 AM PT: Harry Reid's Chief of Staff Swings and Connects with Priebus' doughy jaw...
“They’re a bunch of cowards, and they’re avoiding the issue,” said David Krone, Reid’s chief of staff, in an interview with POLITICO on Sunday night. “Lindsey Graham, Reince Priebus — they’re a bunch of henchmen for Romney, and they’re all reading off the same talking points. They couldn’t hold a candle to Harry Reid.”
Krone added: “What Harry Reid said is the fact of what he was told. To turn it around, all their childish rants this weekend about calling Reid a ‘liar’ and all that, it just shows you how scared they are that Harry Reid was telling the truth.”
Krone also confirmed that Reid did hear what he said he hear from a credible source.
