in this just released announcement Rasmussen has announced their latest poll for the race for the Virginia Senate seat being vacated by Democrat Jim Webb, Democrat Tim Kaine leads Republican George Allen 47-45, with 6% undecided and 2% favoring some other candidate.
They report a margin of error of +/- 4.5 percentage points.
One should remember that the House of Ras tends to tilt Republican by at least a couple of points.
Yes, I know PPP had it tied 46-46. I questioned the makeup of the electorate as reported by PPP - I think it understates Democratic participation.
Be that as it may - Kaine has been bombarded by more than $10 million of negative ads from Americans for Prosperity (Koch Bros) and Crossroads (Rove), and Allen is now up on the air, but Allen seems to have a ceiling at around 45-46%.
Given that Obama has many more offices in state (almost twice as many as Romney), and is running ahead of Romney (by 5 points in PPP), I am started to feel a little more confident about holding this seat.
