As many of you have heard, Mitt Romney believes that Obama supporters don't pay taxes, and that ever person below the 47% line will always vote for Obama, no matter. Well being an Obama supporter, and someone who pays the same, or possible more the mittens in tax percentages, I have a qualm with that.
I have posted awhile back my thoughts on the "We Are the 53%" movement that came about during OWS. My point was, most of the people posting these things, most likely don't pay any taxes at all, and that is ok. And also that I do pay taxes, not a large amount, but still a sum of my earned income, and that's ok because I used to not be taxed, and the tax dollars of others helped me move up in this country, and so it's only right I pay in to help others.
But Romney doesn't believe that. He wants to believe that only hard working Americans, burdened by the government support him, and those lazy freeloaders support the other guy. Well not only is that true, and in fact it's the other way around, it's really offensive to me, being that I am a hard working, tax paying American, and I don't support Mitt's freeloading ass.
To not give away too much of my personal information, I payed an effective rate last year of 15%. This year it will more and likely be around 17%. Judging from the very limited returns Mitt will release (read: almost none) I paid the same as Mitt pays last year, and will pay more than Mitt pays this year. So who is the freeloader? The guy who loses a chunk of his income, or a guy who is rich enough to not even notice, and even still funnels money into offshore accounts, as to not even be responsible for what little taxes he does pay. And who is the freeloader, the student with $15,000 of student loan debt that he has to pay back at 6% interest, or the guy who got A FEDERAL BAILOUT TO SAVE HIS SHITTY COMPANY?
And that's what infuriates me. I work hard, I pay my taxes, and I don't get huge government bailouts, I don't get a Caymen Islands bank account, I don't get to bypass the tax system by claiming my income as something else. No, I get the benefits only of what the government allows me, which is just the basics (roads, police, firemen, etc.). And Mitt then has the nerve to pretend like his side is the side of the hard workers, the back busters, the few tax that carry the load so a bunch of freeloaders can live off the government, while Mitt knows damn well he has received more benefits and exclusion of the laws than anyone in the 47%, and he knows damn well that a majority of the 47% is actually Romney voters! And this brings it to a question most ask once they find out that sutle truth, why do people who pay no taxes at all, believe they do, and think that everyone else is a bunch of freeloaders? It's simple, they don't understand the tax system. They see a number across from "Federal Taxes" on their paycheck stub and think "Well I'm paying taxes" they don't even think about the fact it all comes back to them at tax time, because they don't understand that isn't just a refund because the government wants to give them money, it's a refund because they are a part of the 47%, and so they just assume that the "real" 47%, just don't have a "Federal Tax" line on their paychecks, and they just assume that they must some of those "socialist, communist, hippies" they hear about on Fox News, when in reality it is them that Fox is making fun. It is them that Mitt Romney is calling a lazy good-for-nothing. It is their own self that they hate. And that is a problem.
I don't care about 47% not paying taxes (other than that number is too high, not because of a crappy tax system, but because our nations income is too damn low!) and I don't care about them getting benefits from the government. I'm ok with it, and I support it. But what I do care about is lying and calling an Obama supporter no matter what a lazy good-for-nothing, and trying to smear 47% of this population who work hard too, but because of policies, that Mitt would love to put back in place, have not enough income to be taxed. I don't believe anyone who works doesn't work hard, I don't believe I work harder than anyone else. But I do believe that those who are better off should help those who aren't, and Mitt believe that those who aren't better off must just be lazy, and want the government to do everything for them. Well Mitt, how about this, when you lose in November, and you run another company, don't you even fucking dare to touch any of my money I put in this system, and don't you even fucking dare try to get another bailout, because since you're a self made, hardworking man, who thinks everyone else is just lazy, you don't need my money to ever help you.
