I will change my vote to Romney IF he fully commits to the ideal that all he needed to succeed was to have been “born with a silver spoon, which is the greatest gift you can have: which is to get born in America.”
Ok Romney – if you really believe that being born in America is all you need to succeed as brilliantly as you have – then you should have no problem agreeing to leaving all of your 250 million+ to charity (and I don’t mean to the Mormon Church). That means – leaving nothing to your children – so that they will have to build their own fortunes, all by themselves.
And really – this shouldn’t be hard for them – because they have already benefited from all the educational advantages that money can buy (not to mention having all the connections the Romney name brings them). But really – I am willing to ignore this built in advantage that the children of the wealthy have – and agree to vote for you anyway, so long as you agree not to leave a dime to your children. As long as you leave them to fend for themselves by suckling on the silver spoon, which is America.
Oh – that and one more thing; that as president you make pursuing this ideal your central cause by increasing the inheritance tax to at least 95% for those with a net worth over 100,000 (and perhaps with an upper cap of 100,000). Come on Romney – put your campaign where your mouth is. If you really believe that the only spoon one needs to succeed as spectacularly as you have – is to have been born in America – then you should have no problem committing to my proposal. Consistency is all that I am asking for.
